Indie Games Summer Uprising Titles Selected

Two more spots to be filled by community voting

Last month, we brought you several details about the upcoming Xbox LIVE Indie Games Summer Uprising promotion. At the time, games were being entered for inclusion in the event. After a full month of considering a variety of titles, the developers behind the Summer Uprising have narrowed the field to eight games, all of which will be showcased once the Uprising begins.

The eight titles are:
T.E.C. 3001
Speedrunner HD
Raventhorne
Take Arms
Train Frontier Express
Cute Things Dying Violently
Doom and Destiny
Battle High: San Bruno

This is not the complete list of featured games, as it turns out. The XBLIG Summer Uprising organizers are looking for community input in determining the final two games in the promotion. You can browse all the remaining entrants here. Then, between August 1st and August 14th, you can vote for the games of your choice at the Summer Uprising Facebook page (login required). The community winners will be announced on August 16th during the #IGSU Twitter chat at 9 PM Eastern.

The XBLIG Summer Uprising titles will be released between August 22nd and September 2nd.

Cute Things Dying Violently

One thing to say to that... awesome. This will be one of the few indie games I buy. Haven't played or seen it... but the name, it sounds great

laugh Cute Things Dying Violently? That might be my first ever Indie Game purchase. I'm just sceptical about paying for something that doesn't have achievements on a console where every other game does. Not that I want achievements in Indie Games.

You lot are rubbish, you proudly proclaim that you wouldn't buy any indie games, because 'they don't have achievements', so what? I can remember when people played games because they enjoyed them, not so they could bolster some meaningless score.
I've got 83 indie games and some of them knock spots off arcade releases.

There are gamers, people like you and I and many others, and then there are these other people who collect points.

I don't know what their deal is, but I've found challenging them is futile.

Although to be fair, I don't own a single "Indie" game because each one I've tried has been total rubbish or clones of games I've played one-too-many times; although, some were pretty funny for a few minutes like the game with the giant chicken that shot lasers.

I haven't bought any indie games yet, I've always worried about the quality of games seeing as they aren't reviewed as heavily or played by as many people. Glad trueachievements is starting to give the spotlight to these games. Cute Things Dying Violently sounds like an hilarious buy laugh

That is the absolute first comment I thought when I read this.

"From the makers of Babymaker 2 comes Cute Things Dying Violently! Now with more gore and general death/chaos!"
Yes, a game called Babymaker 2 is on the Indie Games market, and no, I don't think they made this too. But they might have well, amirite?

Decay, Rainbow Runner, Crossfire 2, Fireball, Akane the Kunoichi, Laser Cat, Revolver 360, Sequence, The Impossible Game, Protect Me Knight, Oozi - Earth Adventure.

All of those are great games, most in the older styles of gameplay but that makes them better not worse. To be honest when I was young the worst thing to be was a graphics-slut, well pat yourselves on the backs, cos theres a new evil in town. :)

To the above, I've played Decay Part 1 (won it in a contest), and I for one wouldn't put it up there in the best XBLIG games. It lasted 30 minutes! Not going to argue with you over Rainbow Runner or Crossfire 2 though, those games are bloody good.

They get longer too.

Cool story bro. But here's the thing. Everybody has their right to turn down a game for whatever reason, and they really aren't missing much. They just want to get their moneys worth with both fun and score, and I haven't played too many indie game trials that made me want the full version honestly. But congrats on those 83 indie games, I'm sure that's something to be proud of? clap

As for the real topic here, I would say these all sound pretty solid. Hopefully the trial will be the majority of the game as usual. Personally destroying anything cute catches my interest immediately. laugh
