This report is for the period July 11th to July 17th 2011
Thank you for the great comments regarding our change of format last week. The entire staff appreciates feel-good vibes every so often. Let's try to keep that going this week, despite the carnage you are about to witness. Games Started
29,526 TrueAchievements gamers started a total of 49,850 games between them (1,378 different games).
I want to say that I am surprised over how this week turned out, but I am not. NCAA Football 12
is the latest in a franchise almost as popular as Madden. A general observation is that people seem to be starting fewer games the last two weeks. Is it the oncoming flood of Triple-A titles this Fall?
Let's hear it for Shadows of the Damned
which is looking like a hit on TrueAchievements at least! It has some good company at the bottom in Child of Eden
, two games that dared to be different. Top Retail Games Started
It fills my nerdy heart with joy to see Warhammer 40,000: Kill Team
at number 2. I hope to add to its number next week myself, but let's be honest, there was no way it could beat out Ms. Splosion Man
The Arcade list is filled, top to bottom, with some quality downloadable games. Oh, and the Kinect Fun Labs franchise. I do wonder about those as they are both free, but Kinect Fun Labs: Kinect Me
has been started over 3000 times more than Kinect Fun Labs: Googly Eyes
. What creates that large a disparity? Top Arcade Games Started
As expected, the most recent release, Beards & Beaks (WP)
claims the top spot. The real question is, how long before it drops to Women's Murder Club (WP)
levels? Max & the Magic Marker (WP)
was a WP7 launch title, but its Deal of the Week discount propelled it up to number three this week. Everyone loves to save money.Top Windows Phone 7 Games StartedGames Completed
8,588 TrueAchievements gamers completed a total of 12,488 games between them (975 different games).
Take a look at the "Top Retail Games Completed" chart. Now take a guess as to which game had DLC released. Go ahead, take a guess. I'll wait. L.A. Noire
blew away the competition thanks to how DLC is counted on TrueAchievements. I am sure the whole "quality game" and "wow is that Rockstar Pass a great deal" had nothing to do with it.
It is interesting how the games that people are actually finishing in large numbers have remained largely the same over the last four weeks. That is going to get a big shake up soon as we get closer and closer to the insane glut of Fall releases.Top Retail Games CompletedTorchlight
takes the top spot, despite having some "grind" achievements, just under 30% (29.06%) of those that started it have finished it. I believe that says something about the hardcore nature of our community.
I won't say anything bad about Harms Way
, especially since my boss PunkyLiar
, has contributed to that number even though her completion will show on next week's stats. Dead Rising 2: Case West
is at the bottom of both "Top Arcade Games Started" and "Top Arcade Games Completed". That boost from being the Deal of the Week has paid off. Top Arcade Games CompletedWomen's Murder Club
must be the Avatar: The Last Airbender: The Burning Earth
of the WP7. 23 gamers started it this week, and 28 finished it.
Let us all take a moment yet again to salute those that finished Angry Birds (WP)
. Angry Birds
now has an amazing completion percentage of 1.12%. Top Windows Phone 7 Games CompletedAchievements Won
64,349 TrueAchievements gamers won a total of 881,886 achievements online between them (38,551 different achievements).
is really popular. Over twice as many earned DLC achievements in Rockstar's latest then they did in our number 1 retail title, NCAA Football 12
. Top Retail Achievements WonMs. Splosion Man
and Warhammer 40k: Kill Team
went neck and neck amongst earned achievements this week. The Space Marines took a few more spots this week, possibly due to the incredibly disparity in TA ratio. Warhammer 40k: Kill Team
is at 1.753, and Ms.Splosion Man
is sitting pretty at 6.602. Just a small difference. Top Arcade Achievements Won
Every game on this list has a beak. Top Windows Phone 7 Achievements WonTotal TrueAchievements won by Genre
The only real change is that Sports and Role-Playing swapped places, putting the jocks back on top of the nerds and giving me some serious flashbacks.
One point of interest is the actual scores for each genre. Despite the "Games Started" and "Games Completed" numbers being lower this week, the TA score in each genre is actually higher. Was this the week of "Let's all go for high ratio achievements?"

begins the Summer of Arcade domination.
