Red Dead Redemption GoTY outed by BBFC [Update]

Edit: Since we published this story, the listing on BBFC website has mysteriously disappeared. Was this an honest mistake from the BBFC, who knows? However, the game was listed as being classified, the release date was as stated in the story and the quote "Extra Classification Information ... " was taken directly from the website.

Gamerzines spotted an interesting entry in the BBFC listings today - the British Board of Film Classification are responsible for the rating of films and videogames in the UK.

The entry in question was for Red Dead Redemption Game of the Year Edition.

Interestingly, a quick perusal of some trade sites and e-shops reveals nothing, and nothing is mentioned on the official Rockstar Website yet.

However, the game stands in the listing with a release date of September 16th 2011, which is likely to be the UK release date as it is the British ratings board.

Currently, all that is listed with the original Red Dead Redemption is the Undead Nightmare Pack for Red Dead Redemption, which shouldn't come as any surprise as that was DLC that was also packaged and available separately off the shelf.

The listing also states that "Extended Classification Information for this work will be available on or after 06/09/11" but by that time (September 6th) we will probably already have all the details that we need.

For all those that were considering purchasing RDR in the near future, they might want to rein back their horses until September, before moseying on out, to pick up the GoTY edition.

If you're a fan of open-world games, and you haven't yet played this, then this is a must-have title. It is an absolute masterpiece from the makers of the critically acclaimed and controversial GTA series.
