As Dog of Thunder
noted last week
, this is Matrarch here filling in for the stats recap. So, if something seems a touch different, that's probably why!
Anyways, on to this week's stats! This report is for the period 01 Aug '11 to 07 Aug '11
28,124 TrueAchievements gamers started a total of 46,453 games between them (1,381 different games).
This week is definitely one about staying power as no major retail releases appeared on store shelves this past week. Last week may have belonged to Resonance of Fate
thanks to a scanning technicality, but this week sees Atlus' mind-bending Catherine
take the top spot. What's also interesting is that only 140 or so less gamers started it this week than last week. Compare that to the nearly 50% drop-off in starts for last week's third-place title, Call of Juarez: The Cartel
, and Catherine
's number seems even more impressive. Also of note is the reappearance of Brink
on the games started chart, possibly due to a mixture of being a recent Amazon Deal of the Day and the free DLC
available for the title.Top Retail Games StartedFrom Dust
continues its dominance of the Arcade chart, handily beating out this week's newcomer, Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet
As Dog noted last week, we have yet another week where Summer of Arcade titles are simply dominating over the retail stats. One might think that next week's inevitable appearance of Fruit Ninja Kinect
will show a further decline in week 1 Summer of Arcade start-ups, but the Kinect Fun Labs
apps continue to hold strong, showing one shouldn't discredit a game's ability to appear on these charts due to being Kinect-enabled.Top Arcade Games Started
Here we have yet more evidence as to how being the Deal of the Week can really cause units to move. ilomilo (WP)
, the game to receive last week's DotW treatment, shuffled right to the top of the charts, with last week's victor, Parachute Panic (WP)
dropping to second.Top Windows Phone 7 Games StartedGames Completed
2,635 TrueAchievements gamers completed a total of 3,189 games between them (684 different games).
Let's see... game with recently released DLC, game with recently released DLC, game with recently released DLC, game with recently discounted DLC, recently released game, game with recently released DLC, game with recently discounted DLC, server closures imminent, oh hi Portal 2
and LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean
.Top Retail Games Completed
Four of ten spots go to free games, which is slightly down from last week's five of ten. For those curious, Kinect Fun Labs: Googly Eyes
fell off the chart to be replaced with, somewhat surprisingly, 3 on 3 NHL Arcade
.Top Arcade Games Completed
It's steadily becoming clear that there are several WP7 games that are good for those of you just looking to rack up easy cheevos. Two stats in particular jump out at me. One: There's actually a good bit of variety in this chart week over week with only one game, Beards & Beaks (WP)
, maintaining its exact same place on the chart as it held last week. Two: Of the 10 games on the list, only two, Sally's Salon: Luxury Edition (WP)
and Flowerz (WP)
, sporting completion rates among tracked gamers of less than 30%.Top Windows Phone 7 Games CompletedAchievements Won
54,644 TrueAchievements gamers won a total of 711,302 achievements online between them (38,630 different achievements).
Seems like word of the free Brink
pack definitely traveled quickly as Brink
achievements make up seven of the top ten spots. http://www.trueachievements.com/Fallout-New-Vegas-xbox-....htm
' latest DLC brings us the achievements that round out this category for the week.Top Retail Achievements Won
is still performing well in the Arcade games started chart, it seems the achievements are coming fewer and further between. The two most recent Summer of Arcade entries, From Dust
and Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet
, battled it out for all ten spots on this chart.Top Arcade Achievements Wonilomilo
has been adding to people's gamerscore totals in fine fashion this week. Of course, there's also the irrepressible Angry Birds (WP)
, which has likely been mentioned in every stats post ever because the game just won't go away
of its easy accessibility and sheer popularity.Top Windows Phone 7 Achievements WonTotal TrueAchievements won by Genre
The order of genres remains completely the same as last week. People noted last week that shooters will probably always be the top earner, given the sheer amount of shooters on the 360, but maybe, someday down the line, a AAA, other-genre release, like say Skyrim
or Mass Effect 3
can shake things up a bit.
Well, I hope I've managed to do justice to this after the fantastic treatment these stats posts normally receive. Dog of Thunder will be back next week to resume his normal duties. Make sure to let him know how much you missed him when he posts next week!
