Five New Silent Hill: Downpour Screens

Fans of the critically-acclaimed, fear-inducing Silent Hill series have received a double dose of news out of Gamescom. While it was revealed that the Silent Hill HD Collection will now be available on Xbox 360 and several new screenshots of that were released, fans also would be quick to remember that the next installment in the series, Silent Hill: Downpour is on its way, too.

These five new screenshots show the main character, Murphy Pendleton, as well as the female officer he will encounter not far into the game. It also shows Murphy utilizing a lighter as seemingly his own source of light. That probably won't end well.

Downpour features melee weapon deterioration, new monsters, and an all new region of Silent Hill that is previously unexplored. Also, with the departure of longtime series composer, Akira Yamaoka, the music will be composed by Daniel Licht of Showtime's Dexter.

Venture back into the fog this October with Silent Hill: Downpour...if you dare.

I love the survival horror genre in general and Silent Hill in particular. I hope that this is going to be awesome.

Nothing about this game has impressed me at all. Mainly the previous announcment on the boss fights has put me off of it. I don't remember what that was now to be honest haha. Hmmm. Atleast I get to play Silent Hill 2 at long last! And beat 3 all over again! Woohoo!

It reminds me a little of Alan Wake, which has been my favourite thriller/horror game on 360, so that's a good thing.

I can't wait for the HD collection to be released, as in all my years of gaming, I've yet to complete or even get halfway in any Silent Hill. the furthest I've gotten is about 1/4 of the way through The Room before deciding that I really hated the game.

This game does look promising though. I wasn't able to get into Homecoming that much but hopefully this will catch me up in all it's awesome glory.

I didn't hate Homecoming, don't get me wrong, I just thought the endings ruined what was a very well thought out story. And +1 to whomever added the inverted aim controls!
