The Call of Duty XP event in Los Angeles gave attendees the first look at Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 multiplayer details, as well as tournaments, real-life map recreations, and more. We were also treated to details of the upcoming limited Hardened Edition.

Here's what's inside:
-Modern Warfare 3 game with unique disc art
-1 year Call of Duty Elite Premium Membership, which includes all future Call of Duty MW3 downloadable content (including map packs)
-Special Founder status in Call of Duty Elite. Includes a special in-game emblem, playercard, weapon camo, clan XP boost, and more exclusive benefits
-Exclusive Special Ops Juggernaut Xbox Live avatar outfit
-Limited Edition, 100-page collectible field journal chronicling the entire saga with authentic military sketches, diagrams, and written entries
-All in a collectible steelbook case
External image

The Hardened Edition will set you back $99.99. The Call of Duty Elite Premium membership is valued at $49.99/year alone, so it's up to the consumers to decide if the Hardened Edition with its one year of Elite included, Founder status benefits, avatar item, field journal, and steelbook case is worth it. Those holding their breath for a Prestige Edition like in previous Call of Duty titles may want to exhale, because no details were unveiled, leading us to believe that no such edition is in the works, and at this point, it looks like the Standard and Hardened Editions will be the only ones for MW3.

Speaking of Call of Duty Elite, Activision has taken to the XP event to detail everything you get in both the Free and Premium versions of Call of Duty Elite:

Call of Duty Elite (Free)
-Career Player Profile (Compare 1000's of stats, bests, trends from Black Ops, MW3, and future titles)
-Create-a-Class Online
-Public Groups and Private Clans
-HD Video Sharing
-Call of Duty Elite Apps (on your iPhone, iPad, Android, and Xbox 360)
-and much more
Call of Duty Elite (Premium)
-All the Free features
-Monthly DLC
-Daily Competition with Prizes
-Level Up Your Clan (earn in-game tags and emblems in tournaments and leagues. Earn Double XP and level up with operations and challenges)
-Pro Analysis & Strategy (expert analysis of weapons, maps, modes)
-Call of Duty Elite TV (exclusive episodic entertainment from top talent)
-and much more
As mentioned, Call of Duty Elite Premium will be $49.99/year OR included with MW3 Hardened Edition. You get the main bullet points above, but you can check out the "much more" from the official Call of Duty site.

Lastly, we have a couple new trailers for MW3. The first is is "Find Makarov: Operation Kingfish", a live-action short film where Soap recalls one of his most memorable Task Force 141 missions. Activision was so impressed with the fan-made original "Find Makarov", they commissioned creative studio We Can Pretend to do another:

Lastly, we have new multiplayer footage with the "Tango Down" trailer.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 releases November 8th, 2011.

If you're going to buy all the DLC for MW3, then CoD Elite seems worth it. Or just get the Hardened Edition.

If you're the kind of Call of Duty fan that plays almost a year and buys at least 75% or 100% of the DLC, then this is a must.
I'm getting it. I like the sound of free double xp weekends, my clan will be all over this.

wow, what a fucking waste of money. Now every company is going to have their own elite club you have to join. Its already bad enough we have online passes by everyone, now everyone will have their own club. In a time where people are counting pennies, companies like this are getting greedier and fatter in the wallet. Fuck that.

and all this, for a game that has looked exactly the same since COD4 MW..........ever since call of duty 4, no new game has come out, just reskins

If you download the DLC while being a paid elite member do you get to keep the DLC when it expires or does the DLC get disabled? I haven't seen any clarification on that yet.

I guess the concept of "if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say it all," was a sarcastic joke or something...

DigiMark said:£80 for the UK Hardened Edition... Game hasn't changed any of there numbers since a couple of days ago. It seems strange they would do this though.

This is a pretty good deal for the big call of duty fans. With the amount of DLC they have released for Black Ops then this Hardcore package could end up saving you a ton of money if they release a similar amount of DLC for MW3.

Wish you would get all that in the System Edition cause itll suck to spend 400 on the console then another 100 on the hardened edition.

XPhilesinIA said:wow, what a fucking waste of money. Now every company is going to have their own elite club you have to join.Who says you have to join? First off, let's not forget that you get Single Player, Multiplayer, Spec Ops Survival, and all the Call of Duty Elite Free features for $60 (same as all other retail releases). For $40 more you can spring for the Hardened which gives you all the Elite Premium features (all DLC's and tons more), steel case, field journal, etc., etc. <------- If you couldn't care less about the extras, don't get it! The stuff in the Hardened Version/Premium Elite isn't taking anything away from those who just want the game. It's not like your locked out of Team Deathmatch or single player ends 3/4 through.

I'm getting the Hardened. I find their is value FOR ME. I really don't care if others don't see "the value", or don't care for "the value" of the Hardened Edition or Elite, but I do care that others know the standard $60 game still has SP, MP, Spec Ops, etc. We can bludgeon to death whether we feel the series is still extraordinary or growing stale or their milking it or if it's fair business blah blah blah. Standard is still a full retail game, Hardened/Elite is extra. EXTRAAAAAAA!!!!!
