TA Gaming Stats - Aug. 29th to Sep. 4th 2011

By Dog of Thunder, 5 years ago
We're not quite at the rush of blockbuster games arriving this Fall just yet. Deus Ex: Human Revolution is close, but when we're a few days away from Gears of War 3 and November, with the new Call of Duty, Halo, Elder Scrolls and Assassin's Creed titles well, Deus Ex just does not compare.

Let's enjoy what will perhaps be the last calm week of stats for awhile.

This report is for the period August 29th to September 4th 2011.

Games Started
31,556 TrueAchievements gamers started a total of 49,408 games between them (1,433 different games).

Madden NFL 12 is not nearly as big as I thought it would be, not by a long shot. I have to remember that the TA community is not the target market for Madden 12, though I bet future sales and discounts will spike the play count for yet another easy 1k American Football title.

Both Bodycount and Driver: San Francisco failed to set the world on fire, with Bodycount in particular being released into an especially crowded marketplace. Now is not the time to try and release a new shooter.

A lot of quality arcade games were released just the last...well I'll go with "the entire summer." The chart this week reflects the wide amount of choices available with only one recent release Ugly Americans: Apocalypsegeddon not on the chart. Don't worry, that one will appear further down.

Mortal Kombat Arcade Kollection and Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike Online Edition going head to head is great to see.

Top Arcade Games Started

Fight Game: Rivals (WP) is either the best name of all time or one of the worst. Fable Coin Golf (WP) got a boost courtesy of the WP7 Deal of the Week sale, which pushes its total user base past fifteen hundred gamers. Not bad for a WP7 title.

Top Windows Phone 7 Games Started

Games Completed
6,557 TrueAchievements gamers completed a total of 9,380 games between them (1,019 different games).

Deus Ex, with 562 gamers having completed it in total, has a current completion rate of 3.86%. This is actually higher then Madden NFL 12, which only 167 total gamers have completed with a rate of 3.82%. Other then that unexpected turn of events, this week's chart continues to have nothing new or surprising on it.

No, Gears of War 2 being listed does not count, especially not with the XP events running this month.

Top Retail Games Completed

Harms Way and Kinect Fun Labs: Kinect Me remain the only free arcade game holdouts on this week's chart. I have to admit that Mortal Kombat Kollection being number one is not a surprise as the achievement list looked to be quite easy.

Ugly Americans is the recent XBLA release that did not show on the "Most Popular Arcade Games" chart this week, yet here it is with 54 completions giving it a completion rate of 26.75%.

Top Arcade Games Completed

http://www.trueachievements.com/Angry-Birds-xbox-360.htm is actually off the chart. Each week it seems that at least a few masochists complete the brick breaking achievement to finish that game off.

Minesweeper (WP) is going to get easier to complete which means the completion rate of 9.33% is going to spike. While a nearly 10% completion rate may sound impressive, only 304 out of the 3,258 gamers that have started it, have actually finished.

Sudoku (WP) has a similar completion number with 365 finishing the game my grandfather loves to no end. Only 1,611 have started Sudoku, however, giving it a deceivingly high completion rate of 22.66%.

Top Windows Phone 7 Games Completed

Achievements Won
57,535 TrueAchievements gamers won a total of 721,917 achievements online between them (38,782 different achievements).

I never thought the chart would look like this. If anything, I thought it would be Madden 12 with all the spots.

Top Retail Achievements Won

I love this arcade chart due to http://www.trueachievements.com/Pinball-FX2-xbox-360.htm sneaking its way on at the very bottom.

Top Arcade Achievements Won

Just take a moment and imagine a world where Minesweeper was designed by Peter Molyneux.

Role-playing takes the number one spot on the back of Deus Ex. Even Action-Adventure beat out Sports this week, which again, I thought was going to be a breakthrough week for Madden 12, but I sorely overestimated that game's performance.
