The Darkness II Developer's Diary

The Darkness II Developer's Diary

Introducing The Brotherhood

Written by DavieMarshall on 09 September 11 at 19:23

2K Games have revealed another Developer's Diary for upcoming sequel, The Darkness II. This video focuses on The Darkness and it's new and exceptionally more powerful presence in the game, along with a mysterious group known as The Brotherhood.

In this video we see liquid-smooth dual-wield gun play, and something I think most players of the first title wished for, more malleable Darkness tentacles. Here we see enemies ensnared and constricted by your vicious inner demon.

Check it out in the embedded video below. This is shaping up to be a great title.

Don't forget that sadly The Darkness II is set for a 2012 release after the announcement of a recent delay. You can get your hands on it this February 7th (US) and February 10th internationally.

I started the first one, got side-tracked and never went back to it. I should really finish it before this one comes out.

The Darkness was a great game, but I'm a bit sad to see the subway coming back in the 2nd. I hope the game is not shaped in the same way, where you always have to get through the same 2 subway stations over and over...

I enjoyed the first game, hopefully the story gets an improvement as well since the combat has been improved a lot from what they have shown at E3

I talked to one of the guys from 2K at Pax East and he couldn't say one way or the other if there will be but he kinda had a smirk when I asked him. I actually really hope they have it and it's just greatly improved over the first game.

First game single player was awesome. Voice acting and soundtrack very strong. Lets just avoid "The Don 2.0" shall we ..... (or if we can't, please put a fire-hydrant back in)

I know the first game wasn't a massive hit but i think it got a small dedicated group of followers. Not only is it a brilliant story its really dark (obviously facepalm) with some quite comical moments (who can forget the encyclopedia story, fucking hilairious!) but Mike Patton (who's this you ask, SHAME ON YOU!) handled the soundtrack and the voice of The Darkness which is fucking awesome cuz he's a fucking genious so i'm glad he's back on board!

At first I was a little worried about the fact that Starbreeze wasn't developing it but from what I've seen there's no need to worry.

One thing that I hope has been improved is the Darkness power system so that you can really mix things up making the powers system really fluid like in the awesome cutscenes from the first game.

fuck it, all this talking about it has made wanna go play the first one.

Bashford said:later you DULL, POINTLESS MAGGOTS! angrySurely you can come up with something better then that? Infact I'm quite sure the entire way your personality is structured would seem more pointless if we were to put it under the loop than some of the other members of this site. How'bout you go bothered some other sites members with such rude uncalled for irrelevant comments?

Anyways.. I've been rather sceptical about the outcome of this game so far, especially considering the new visual style of it compared to the previous title, but this video is starting to make me come around.. Hopefully there'll be a demo out for it so it can be tested before making a final decision.
