TA Gaming Stats - Sept 26th to Oct 2nd 2011

This report is for the period 26 Sep '11 to 02 Oct '11.

Welcome to week 2 of Gears of War 3 has sold a ton of copies. Today we will be analyzing more crazy numbers being put up by the TA community regarding the last ride of Delta Squad (until the spin-off).

Apologies for this going up quite so late, but a certain event involving Gears of War 3 kept this particular Newshound quite busy over the last week.

Games Started
39,687 TrueAchievements gamers started a total of 61,469 games between them (1,409 different games).

Gears of War 3 has already surpassed L.A. Noire in total gamers. In fact, Gears of War 3 has beaten L.A.Noire's number by 10,000.

Resident Evil 4 HD (Xbox 360) sports an impressive number for the second week in a row, especially for a Games on Demand (GOD) title. The other GOD title, Resident Evil Code: Veronica X HD, performed fairly well though I wonder how many people picked it up and then cursed at the controls. The other zombie game? Well Dead Island (Xbox 360) continues to defy expectations and has now surpassed 20,000 total gamers.

FIFA 12 did not defy expectations at all, as that game is supposed to be a big hit each year. FIFA 12 keeps the tradition alive while X-Men: Destiny keeps the tradition of horrible X-Men titles alive.

I am very tempted to pick up Burnout CRASH! for myself, so I'm glad to see the number of gamers that seem to be enjoying it.

Mercury Hg is one of those titles that gets little press but good word of mouth sales. Oh and a 400 MSP price point doesn't hurt.Outland, ilomilo, Trials HD, The Maw and why not include the promotional Crimson Alliance? Whew. This week was a week dominated by incredible XBLA sales.

Top Arcade Games Started

Implode! (WP) has a decent community rating of 3.7 and has been praised by a bunch of friends on my friend feed. I have no idea what the game is like, but it seems to be pretty popular.

Full House Poker (WP) was recently on sale, but its bump was fairly minimal due to so many gamers already owning this particular game. Over 1,800 gamers is not a bad number for a WP7 title.

Games Completed
4,474 TrueAchievements gamers completed a total of 6,154 games between them (898 different games).

Fallout: New Vegas benefited from more DLC and Resident Evil 4 HD benefited from people having beaten the game before and already knowing every little secret.

Crysis 2 will finally start showing up now that it is possible to complete. Overall however, you can tell that this week the community was focused on playing new titles instead of taking the time to finish off games. The completion numbers are some of the lowest we have seen since May.

Top Retail Games Completed

Magic: The Gathering - Duels of the Planeswalkers 2012 and Worms 2: Armageddon are again, the recipients of recent DLC. Harms Way is well, free, a fact that we have clearly established as I can not wait for this game to disappear and never appear on the chart again.

The recent sale on Torchlight and Portal: Still Alive added to the already impressive numbers each game has amassed during the last few months.

Top Arcade Games Completed

Collapse! (WP) solidifies its position as the easiest 200 for the WP7. Its completion rate is up to 91.22% which is insane. Minesweeper (WP) by way of comparison, has only a 14.15% completion rate.

Achievements Won
69,961 TrueAchievements gamers won a total of 768,037 achievements online between them (35,609 different achievements).

Alright, I know, it's all Gears of War 3 achievements again, but let's look a bit deeper. For starters, the most common achievement of the week is for finishing Act 5, Chapter 5. 8,712 gamers in total completed the campaign during this week. These numbers are, like most involving Gears of War 3, nuts.

Top Retail Achievements Won

You go Mercury HG! Despite being started by less gamers, the latest XBLA puzzler beat out Burnout CRASH! by 1 achievement. These numbers are, on a whole, significantly less then those we saw over the summer for arcade titles, giving us real proof that it's Triple-A retail title season.

Top Arcade Achievements Won

http://www.trueachievements.com/Burn-the-Rope-xbox-360.htm blocked us from a Full House Poker (WP7) sweep of the achievements chart.

Total TrueAchievements won by Genre

No surprise here. None at all. Over 10 million TA points in a week? Not a shock, not in that genre for this week.
