Your Sky Questions Answered

By ButterflyEdge, 7 years ago
Earlier this week Sky released some helpful information in regards to using Sky through your Xbox 360 when the service becomes available later in the year.

Watching Sky TV through your games console is something that many of you have discussed here on the forums. So you’ll be excited to hear that we’re teaming up with Xbox to make it a reality.

We’re working together to make a range of live and on-demand programmes available for you to watch on Sky Player through your Xbox. This will be the first time ever that live pay TV channels will have been made available via a games console in the UK.

It’s still early days, but we wanted to give you a heads up on what we’re planning, so we’ve pulled together some more information for you below:

How will the service work for customers that are new to Sky?
If you’re a new customer joining Sky through your Xbox, Sky Player will offer you a wide range of live channels and on-demand content via a number of package options. You will also be able to access a selection of your favourite shows on a pay-per-view basis.

Will I need a Sky set-top box or dish to receive this service?
No you won’t. Sky Player through your Xbox is another innovative way to watch Sky TV. Sky Player already offers access to live channels and on-demand content via PCs and Macs for those customers who cannot receive Sky via satellite, or who simply prefer to subscribe online.

What if I am already a Sky customer?
For those of you who are already Sky customers and who own an Xbox, it’s another way for you to view your favourite shows on Sky in addition to your TV, PC, Mac or mobile.

Which channels will be available?
Details of the full channel line-up will be revealed closer to launch, but we plan to offer Xbox users a comprehensive spread of blockbuster movies, must-see entertainment, documentaries, kids, music and arts programming, as well as a variety of sports through Sky Sports.

How much will the service cost?
Pricing details haven’t been confirmed as yet, but if you join Sky through your Xbox, there will be a number of subscription packages of live pay TV channels available to you as well as the opportunity to access programming on a pay-per-view basis.

If you’re already a Sky TV customer, then for the first time you will be able to access Sky Player’s on-demand services through your console, as well as your PC or Mac. For customers who also subscribe to Sky Multiroom, Sky Broadband Max or an Xbox Multiroom subscription will also be able to watch live Sky TV channels via their Xbox.

Will the service provide any extras?
Yes it will. We’re working with the team at Xbox to provide a range of exciting interactive services uniquely available to customers taking up the Xbox / Sky Player offering. These include communicating with friends and family in real time, checking news and accessing fixtures, league tables and other on-demand information.

This is what we’ve got for now, but we’ll be back to keep you posted on developments!

Hopefully that answers peoples questions. At least for now!
