Yesterday we brought a teaser trailer
for the first demonstration of Hitman: Absolution
. The video got veteran fans of the series stirring. Many are hopeful that the core experience of what makes a Hitman
game a Hitman
game would remain intact with the newest upcoming installment. Others were skeptical it would even be worth their time.
Well, now the full 16+ minute video is available and it definitely looks like a new direction for Agent 47, but it also holds dear some necessary ingredients to be considered part of the series.
While most of the video echoes a gameplay style similar - some may even say nearly identical to Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Conviction
, the last five minutes give hope that the game can still be played in the preferred style of the true Silent Assassins of the world. Add with the recently announced Hardcore Mode
, the game may just be what franchise fans have longed for all these years.
The big question after watching the video is: Can that helicopter sequence be avoided? Could the player have sneaked out hostage-free, never alerting the police? If the game allows that as an option, there's nothing to fear. If it doesn't, then clearly the franchise has headed in a drastically different direction.Hitman: Absolution
will release sometime in 2012.
