Mass Effect 3 Demo Detailed

Test run the finale in January 2012; Early access for BF3 owners

The finale to Bioware's sci-fi action RPG, Mass Effect is set to touch down on Earth, along with the Reapers, in March of 2012. Before that, eager N7's will have the chance to preview the game via a demo download. Bioware's Jessica Merizan released information on the Bioware forums early this morning detailing all there is to know about the upcoming demo.

Firstly, the demo will release in January and include both single player and multiplayer modes. Consider the download a belated holiday gift to yourself. Anyone who purchases Battlefield 3 can activate their Online Pass (You did buy new, didn't you?) and get early access to the entirely non-controversial multiplayer portion of ME3. How early that access will be has yet to be announced.

Not buying Battlefield 3? Bioware has you covered. Merizan also said to look out for a different promotion in late November/early December - no purchase necessary - to get early access to the co-op mode. The demo's official release date will also be announced sometime in November.

Mass Effect 3 will conclude Commander Shepard's story when it releases on March 6th in North America and March 9th in Europe.

Not really a big ME fan but I'll give the demo a try when it releases. I just hope EA handles it better than the BF3 early beta access.
Is it really an achievement if it's easy or everyone has it?

Smart. Buy Medal of honor for early access to Battlefield 3 ~ Battlefield 3 to get early access to Mass Effect 3. I wonder what Mass Effect 3 is going to give you early access to?

Seems they want to get back the people who canceled their pre orders because of that horrible beta. It´ll work

They also said if u don't buy BF3 but u bought other BF games u will get the demo somehow.

To be honest this is just EA trying to bribe more people into buying BF3 because they know they won't outsell MW3

It's a demo guys... for all you know it will be 10 minutes game play and you are actually considering buying full game that some of you say would not buy otherwise to play 10 minutes of a game, that will be available in full version 3 months later? Seriously?

Furthermore, do you honestly think EA will only release a demo for one of their big sellers to those who bought another one of their games? This demo will be available for download, no strings attached well before the full version of the game is out anyway...

Seriously?I'm sure the people saying that were probably leaning towards buying ME3 before hand. Buying it solely on the basis of this? Yeah, stupid.

I didn't play it for more then a couple hours in early access, but what seemed so horrible about it? Maybe it was what I expected, but I didn't see anything that made want to cancel a preorder.

Sounds cool but also sounds like it might be the demo that was available to play at PAX 2011. When I tried it, it seemed like a smooth light demo and I am a huge Mass Effect fan - but might be better to just wait for the game if this is in fact the same demo that was at PAX.

If I recall correctly it is the part in the trailers where the huge Cerberus Mech is attacking your squad while you are assisting Mordin with the "precious cargo". When you start the demo you are given a choice between three classes; Soldier, Sentinel, and Adept (I think that was the third class). Then you can allocate your points into which stats you'd want, have them branch off into other powers, etc. Can also assign your squad points I think as well. Garrus and Liara are in your team and for the most part the demo felt very familiar to ME2. Only thing that really changed was the weapon set up and that you can use omniblade for melee. The frame rate also felt greatly improved.

Now I might be wrong and it may be a different demo or they've actually polished and added a few more things but, that was my demo experience coming from an ME fan. Worth a try but honestly, may as well wait a couple months for the full game.

I didn't think BF3 would have an online pass to be honest, (me just being in denial) but I think its nice that you get a reward for buying new, at least if the tittle is an ea published game.

Looks like EA is calling on a different audience in an attempt to beat out MW3. I'm a fan of both ME and BF so I plan on getting in this demo. I can't wait! :D
