Once the technical hitch regarding the Horde Command Pack
for Gears of War 3
had been sorted, Epic took the time to announce the arrival of their next piece of DLC, and the best news? It's completely free.
On Thanksgiving Day (Thursday, November 24th), Epic will be thanking their fans with the "Versus Booster Map Pack". The pack will include five maps for use in the public matchmaking playlists. Fans of Gears of War
will welcome the return of Swamp and Clocktower. The pack will also contain Azura, Rustlung and Blood Drive from yesterday's "Horde Command Pack".
Although the three maps will no longer be exclusive to yesterday's DLC pack, those who have bought the "Horde Command Pack" will still have exclusive access to the Horde fortification upgrades, as well as the new multiplayer characters and the new weapon skins. If you're still sitting on the fence deciding whether you want to check out yesterday's DLC, have a look at the new trailer for it:
The "Versus Booster Map Pack" will NOT be counted as one of the four packs included within the Gears of War 3
Season Pass. The Season Pass includes yesterday's "Horde Command Pack", and the already announced "RAAM's Shadow", of which more details can be found here
. It will also include two further as-yet-unannounced DLC packs.
In the next piece of Gears of War 3
news, this weekend's upcoming event has been confirmed as Can You Dig It? Players will start each game armed with just a Digger and a Boltok pistol. The event will run from November 4th until November 6th. Further details on the Impossible Mission event, running from November 25th until December 21st, are yet to be confirmed, although players will be able to get their hands on an exclusive skin. Whether this skin is for a weapon, or whether it is a multiplayer character also has yet to be confirmed.Edit:
At the request of the members of the community below, I'll clarify the Alpha event that appeared in the list for November 1st. Yesterday's title update also saw the addition of a new Alpha playlist. Epic Games' Level Designer Quinn DelHoyo provides an exact breakdown of the playlist specifics:
Team Size: 4
Gametypes: Team Deathmatch, King of the Hill, Execution
Weapon Pick-ups: Default with the some custom swaps.
Weapon Respawn: Set to “After Pick-up” with quicker respawn times.
This playlist is subject to change depending on how the community uses it. Players can submit any thoughts about what they would like to see happen with the Alpha playlist on the official Alpha playlist forum thread
As another side note, double XP is currently available across all Gears of War 3
gametypes. This XP event will run until 9:00 AM EST on November 14th, so now is the perfect time to rank up in your bid towards level 100.
Thanks to the many members of the community who sent this one in!
