Hopefully you subscribed to Call of Duty ELITE, because it looks like this next year of Call of Duty
is going to be an expensive one otherwise.
The Xbox Marketplace and Playstation Store each advertise the ELITE service with details that the premium membership will include "20 pieces, including maps released every month for 9 months". It'd be very surprising if that meant 20 map packs however. More likely, it will include some new maps, perhaps even one per month for the nine months, as well as some micro-downloads like camo or weapons. The details are certainly unclear. They do specify that some of it will be Spec Ops add-ons as well. It seems all those that subscribed to ELITE will be getting their money's worth, but we'll have to wait and see what these "20 pieces" of DLC actually are.
In related news, ELITE has been shut down temporarily by Beachhead Studios who cited such a high demand for the service that they couldn't keep up. A representative for Beachhead Studios had this to say:
Registration requests for our new live service Call of Duty ELITE are exceeding even our most optimistic expectations, which is creating a bottleneck and some players have not been able to register. We have already registered hundreds of thousands of players and we are working around the clock to increase our capacity as quickly as possible.
They also recently tweeted that they are increasing the server capacity four-fold to meet the high traffic from the relentless Call of Duty
