Good thing the NFL Blitz
series isn't intended to be realistic. Among the ridiculous catches, bone-crunching hits, and faster-than-light passes this video has to offer, something so unrealistic occurs that tips off the arcade gameplay immediately, a defense actually stops Tim Tebow. Pshhh, yeah right.
Anyway, this video doesn't focus on the Denver Tebows -- err...I mean the Denver Broncos, but rather the commentary and music design going into the game. The most promising of features is the way EA Sports is handling the two-person commentary. Rather than the phony, tired commentary that Madden
offers year after year, Blitz will feature commentary that was recorded by the announcers in-studio together
, which will allow the two announcers to "feed off each other's energy", as the audio designer says in the video.
This same method is employed by the 2K Sports line of games, and the differences between what they offer for realism in commentary and what EA Sports offers has always been drastic. Hopefully this means EA Sports will incorporate the same methods into future sports titles.
Look for NFL Blitz
to tackle the XBLA marketplace in January.
