Kinect Sports: Season Two DLC Released

Kinect Sports: Season Two DLC Released

Ski to Midnight Mountain

Written by PunkyLiar on 10 January 12 at 17:23

The second piece of DLC for Kinect Sports: Season Two had been briefly mentioned last month, but details were very scarce. The DLC, titled "Midnight Mountain Ski Pack", has been released today, but don't fret: I come armed with those precious details.

The DLC adds three new floodlit ski runs to the game:

Backwoods Blast – A high-adrenaline precision course through the forest with narrow straights, dizzying twists, and steep rollers to put your focus to the test.
Pitch Black – For skiers who like to get airborne, this terrain-heavy course sports big jumps, steep banks, giant rollers, and vertical drops, where jumping is the key to getting a great time.
After Hours – An Advanced Slalom course built for more gates and a faster rhythm – ideal for speed fanatics and classic racing fiends.

The Ski Pack can be used in all game modes. New challenges are also available and, of course, there are five new achievements worth a total of 125G.

The "Kinect Sports: Season Two - Midnight Mountain Pack" costs 400 MSP and can be downloaded from here. Those who fancy trying out the DLC before a purchase may be interested in the free "Ski Trial", which allows players to try out the Pitch Black course. The trial can be downloaded from here.

Microsoft has already confirmed that there will be more DLC to come for the game. The next piece of DLC that will be arriving is “Challenge Pack #2” in February. More details are not yet available, but we'll let you know as soon as we hear anything.

I haven't picked this up yet, but I'll likely be getting the DLC when I do. The game looks fun, and I loved the first

Hopefully the achievements are not has hard as the golf ones. Trying to get a hole in one with a driver 200+ yards out is a paaain.

When looking at the achievements for KS season 2... I noticed that one gamer has had this DLC for a little while. I was totally jealous ;) The skiing is fun!

I will be picking this up when I get home from working tonight. As for the guy who already has the achievements for this DLC, if you check his profile on xbox.com it says that he is part of the development team. This explains why he got it first.

Yes...especially the skiing believe it or not. You may want to wait for a sale though if you're unsure.

Good to hear. My thought exactly on waiting. I just can't bring myself to spend the asking price on new kinect games for some reason!

I would have paid $60 (hell, more) for The Gunstringer. Kinect Sports 1 would have been well worth the asking price when it came out (although I paid less. I rarely buy a game at full price)

Kinect Sports 2 is fun, but there have been tons of sales on it (in the states at least). I'd wait for a sale granting you 30-50% off. It's fun, but the fun can wait.

If you have an ExpertZone membership with Microsoft (for being an employee of a retailer that sells Xbox 360 or other Microsoft products) you can get the game, as well as a lot of other Kinect and Microsoft published games, for $20

This entire game should have been DLC :(
MH The Rockstar - I just cleaned up my game library - nothing new until I clear out some of these older "1-2 achievements left" games.

I can't say for sure. Generally things like this are, but the login page (uses Windows LIVE ID) has a long list of countries to choose from. Although signing in for one of those countries may, for all I know, give an error that it isn't available.
