Homefront Ultimate Edition Revealed

Homefront Ultimate Edition Revealed

More details still need revealing

Written by Ashley Woodcock (Dat Boi Treezy) on 10 January 12 at 20:44 , updated on 10 January 12 at 20:44

After the unfortunate shut-down of Kaos Studios, it was revealed that their first person shooter, http://www.trueachievements.com/Homefront-xbox-360.htm, would still be receiving a sequel. With the release of the sequel being quite a while away yet (Q4 2014), this leaves plenty of time for gamers to give the original title a go.

Eurogamer have spotted an Ultimate Edition of Homefront fresh off of THQ's release schedule, currently scheduled for launch "before the end of the financial year - March 31st" 2012. Details on exactly what the Ultimate Edition of the game contains are yet to be revealed, but it's very likely that it will contain the two DLC map packs for the game - "The Rock" and "Fire Sale".

It's worth noting that both these map packs DO NOT come with any achievements, "The Rock" can be downloaded for 400 MSP, and "Fire Sale" for 240 MSP. The price for Homefront: Ultimate Edition is yet to be announced.

And don't forget about the 800 MSP battle pass that it will also include.
So glad I picked this up for $10 a couple of weeks ago.

What's the point of re-releasing a bad game, aside from a quick cash grab? I mean, I didn't mind Homefront, but it seems that the general consensus about it is that it's a steaming piece of shit.

Games like Oblivion and Fallout I can understand, since they had a solid amount of DLC packs. This had like none. Again, WHAT'S THE POINT?

EDIT - Maybe I'll get this edition if it includes the other half of the campaign.

EDIT 2.0 - It's not Crytek, but Crytek UK (Formerly Free Radical, AKA the Timesplitters guys) doing Homefront 2. You should be legitimately interested in that game because of that.

More to the point, what is the point of buying any game at release date if they are just going to throw a GotY/Complete package together in 8-12 months and sell it cheaper?!?! Seriously, it's a slap in the face of people who buy games.

I enjoyed Homefront and getting 1000G, but why the hell did they think an ultimate edition would be a good idea? This game can be bought NEW dirt cheap.

Its not exactly a slap in the face because if you wait that year then you would have missed out on playing that game for that time, you may get it cheaper but youll be a year behind, not only that but you dont have to buy the original day one...but back to homefront, it wasnt that bad lol, campaign was short. About 6 hours worth of gunplay and the online tries to keep you on there forever, but if you play it for what it is despite other online FPS out there, it does what its suppose to and its a decent game, I have no clue why in the hell they would waste gamers time even coming out with this again, it certainly didnt have much dlc so i dont see what is going to be so "ultimate" about the ultimate edition and like Doominator said, only games that would offer alot deserve GOTY editions....homefront is lucky enough to be getting a sequel -__-

As a big fan of homefront (yes I actually do like the game a lot even thought everyone is bashing on it) I must say I can't even see the use for this.
If it would contain extra single player missions or something like that then maybe, but (what probably will happen) for 2 DLC map packs to be included into this one... no.... no point in there at all!

Also, homefront 2 is for 2014..... as eric cartman would say: CRAAAAAAAAAAAP!

THQ must be freaking dumb to keep making stuff for this game including a sequel. no offense to the people that like it but this game did really terrible so I don't know why they think there is still money in it

They haven't told people what will be included, just that there will be more on a game that most people never wanted to look at again. I don't totally hate it, but this really just doesn't seem like a good idea.
You seem a little furious...

I have yet to play the game and so I can't really comment on its quality or lack thereof. What I can say is that I don't know why they would be releasing it so long after its release. Especially given that the DLC is MP map packs for a game with a dwindling community. If the DLC were added missions a la Mafia II or GTA IV then it would be worth it potentially.

I was there on launch day when Homefront came out, I also waited the 2 months it took them to fix their shit so you could actually play the game. This is a horrible idea, and whoever takes on this project will lose everything they invest in it. Kaos/THQ fucked up the Homefront name and anything after it will be remembered by the thousands of gamers that took their games back to the stores the week they bought it. This is also why I will never by a game with THQ/Kaos or even Crytek listed anywhere on the package, games I have played with their names all over it are piles of shit.

Maybe this game will have 1000 different gamer score. Like lost planet 1 and batman did. If its cheap enough people would buy it just for another 1000 gamer score. If its $20 and comes with $40 worth of new dlc and 2000 gamer score I will buy it. Otherwise I will stick with the copy I got. Its an ok game but I am glad I didnt pay $60 for it.
