UK Deal Roundup for January 17th, 2012

Things start to die down

Written by punkyliar on 17 January 12 at 11:41

I thought that the lack of new sales last week was bad. This week is worse. HMV renames its sale but has very little to show for it. TheHut starts a small American Sports category sale. Otherwise, we have weekly offerings from Shopto and TheHut. Even some of the previous sales have ended, with retailers choosing not to replace them at this point in time. To fill the gap a little and to reduce my workload next week, some of the continuing sales receive a reminder a week early.

As usual you need to click on the name of the retailer or the name of the deal to be taken straight to the retailer’s offer page. Further details on the deals, including the best pick of the sale items, can be found in the ‘details here’ link, which will take you back to the relevant UK deal roundup that described the sale in more detail. Clicking on the name of a game will take you to the achievement list.

To start off the new sales of the week, HMV has renamed their current sale to ‘Great Value Games from £9.99’. There are only five Xbox 360 titles included though, and of those, only Shaun White Skateboarding is worth considering at £7.99.

Shopto’s Xbox 360 Star Buys only include Halo 3 at £7.85. Meanwhile, their Xbox 360 Weekly Specials only include Dead Space for £9.85, Awakening in Dragon Age: Origins for £8.86 and GoldenEye 007: Reloaded for £22.85.

TheHut has started an American Sports promotion. These games can not be found for less elsewhere:
Madden NFL 11 - £24.95
Madden NFL 12 - £24.95
Major League Baseball 2K11 - £14.95
NBA 2K11 - £14.95
NHL 12 - £24.95

TheHut’s Super Six deals have only kept one of the promotional codes this week. Buyers can save £5 when spending over £50 when the code JANUARY50 is entered at the checkout. As part of these offers, there is also an offer on uDraw items. Pictionary: Ultimate Edition is £14.95 here.

Here are the most recently covered continuing sales:
Amazon’s January bargains continue – details here.
ASDA continues their January Event – details here.
Base continues their offer where buyers can get two games for £25 – details here.
Bee’s Special Offers continue – reminder here.
GamesCentre’s Born To Play offers continue – reminder here.
HMV’s Pure Double Points promotion list hasn’t changed since last week – reminder here.
Play.com continues their ‘Winter Sale’ – details here.
Play continues their ‘Get Set Get Fit’ promotion – details here.
Sainsbury’s continues their Price Crash on Xbox 360 games – details here.
TheHut.com and sister store Zavvi both continue their ‘Sale’ with up to 80% off prices of some games – details here.
• The Value Gaming sale at TheHut.com, also known as Great Value Games at sister store Zavvi, continues on – reminder here.
Toys R Us continues their promotion of a list of games for under £10 – reminder here.
Zavvi’s Price Drop continues – details here.

This week’s reminder section starts with Gameplay’s New Year sale. Sister stores GAME and Gamestation have both ended their sales, but Gameplay has chosen to continue their sale for another week. These are the best picks:
Assassin's Creed: Revelations Special Edition - £29.98
Dawn of War II (PC) Game of the Year Edition - £6.98
Kinect: Disneyland Adventures - £24.98
F1 2011 - £22.98
Gears of War 3 Limited Edition - £37.99
Gears of War 3 Epic Edition - £64.99
Just Dance 3 - £17.98
RAGE Anarchy Edition - £9.98
The Sims 3 Pets Limited Edition - £22.98
Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine Elite Space Armour Pack - £12.48

GameStop are still running a ‘Buy Two Get One Free’ offer on selected Xbox 360 and GFWL titles. The only thing is that only these titles are worth considering at their prices:
Dante's Inferno - £8.97
Fight Night Round 4 - £6.97
Kane & Lynch: Dead Men (PC) - £3.97
Test Drive Unlimited 2 - £9.97

TheHut.com’s Action Games sale continues. Unfortunately, the only two titles that are worth having are BlazBlue: Continuum Shift Limited Edition and Mortal Kombat, both at £14.95.

TheHut.com are still running their two games for £25 offer, as is sister store Zavvi. This is a list of games that can’t be bought for less than £12.50:

All UK people; pretty much all Games and Gamestations are selling the Gears 3 Epic Edition in store for £50, and the console for £180 (I bought the console yesterday and saw they had a few Epic Editions left over, apparantly this is the same nationwide)

The Game Half-Price sale was just selling shit pre-owned, near to the price, or slightly above the price I could get for the same games if I just ordered online. I rarely ever buy anything from game, at all - they're bad value for money and make no sense to the core gamer looking to watch their pocket - at all.

Also want to point out that Lego Harry Potter: Years 5-7 appears to be GFWL only in the 2 for 25, and not the 360 version? I'm not even sure the PC version has it's own achievements list... but yeah, can't see why that'd be included as a relevant 360 game, just pointing that out (as i believe it may be an error) wave
