I guess people want to make sure Microsoft knows what they think about it in case MS toys with the idea of implementing such a system BEFORE everything is set in stone.
Edit: Nevertheless I like the fact that you refrain from spreading those rumors even further. Nothing is better than good old hard facts. |

| Kotaku is doing a great job at pulling in revenue with that article though. EVERYONE is linking to it. |

| Very well said and I wholeheartedly agree. I always take console rumors with a grain of salt and it all ends up being completely false over time. |

Most of what's happening is sites trying to get the inside track on search hits for certain topics. It wasn't long ago that the big rumor was tablet-based 720 systems.
MS has probably done tons of internal testing and focus groups and such to decide what's coming. They're not looking to responses to articles on Kotaku or any site to make these decisions. |

| It's still fun to speculate about the new system. It doesn't mean people should be telling you to post rumors as stories. |

Let them know! Our very own Jayour started a petition about it I encourage you to sign to show your support (just can't seem to get the page to come up on my computer at the moment). (EDIT: Jayour hooked me up: http://www.change.org/petitions/microsoft-dont-implement-an-...)
The biggest issue we've had sites sent in to us as "sources" which are quoting this as "THIS IS HAPPENING!" and we don't know. It might, it might not, we don't know. It could be set in stone now for all we know.
Just don't quote it as being true, doing so is outright lying to people. |

1) "Unscourced" is not a word.
2) Thank you for being more responsible with rumors than what is still, for some reason, considered a major news outlet. Kotaku's insistence on running stories filled solely with rumors without source lately, as well as their insistence on using the name "XBOX 720" despite not one word from Microsoft to support that being their next system's name, has turned me off that site, perhaps for good. Whatever journalistic integrity they may have one day had is long gone. They're now nothing but a clearinghouse for news from other sources, "neat" stuff other people did, and guesses about the future from people with no reason to be taken seriously. I've been very critical of TA's news for a while and still have some large reservations about it, but despite everything I've said about TA, Kotaku is worse. |

microsoft won't block used games, especially if the PS4 is fine with it. the big retailers game, gamestation, gamestop, amazon (who make crazy free money from used game sales) can just turn around and say "we won't stock the 720 if you dont support used games, we'll just go crazy marketing the PS4".
its the same reason consoles cannot move to full digital distribution unless they allow 3rd party apps to sell games on their system. who is going to sell a console that they can't sell games for? no-one |

| Thanks for not reporting on this as other news articles have "sourced" that the next xbox is going to be called Xbox Infinite, ans some other crazy things. Don't need this flooding TA also until Microsoft releases the actual name/design/specs. I read a lot about it on IGNorant, and Kotaku, so not really trusting them right now. |

But still I think that a main motive of the outcry is exactly that: They try to make sure MS takes notice - it doesn't dawn on them that MS doesn't care / already knows how people will react. |

| There has been a lot of talk recently about the second hand gaming issue and whether having games that can only play on one console. The problem with this is that the true heart of gaming lies in getting together with a group of mates and playing various games from all your collections with pizza and beers. Not only will it ruin that but you can guarantee Sony would do the exact opposite to kill the competition. Its just not commercially viable. |

| I don't understand why Microsoft would put an anti-used game feature on a console. All that would do is hurt the gaming industry as a whole. If they put something like that the games would have to be reduced in price in my opinion. |

| I applaud the TA Newshounds for not giving into sensationalism. Really, the rumor-mongers are the ones to blame. They read the first few sentences of an article, panic and Facebook the hell out of it... kind of like users of Fox News Channel. While the rumors are the biggest problem, I have to give special shout out of "f*ck off" to Stephen Totilo for sensationalism. That's never exceptable. Kotaku is unfortunately a repeat offender of such. |
