TA Gaming Stats - Feb 13th to Feb 19th 2012

By Dog of Thunder, 4 years ago
This report is for the period February 13th to February 19th 2012.

Games Started
19,920 TrueAchievements gamers started a total of 29,331 games between them (1,478 different games).

Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning and UFC Undisputed 3 could not be more different. Only three gamers separated the two atop the retail chart. That's it.

New games are, predictably, slowly taking over the chart. Kudos to Battlefield 3 and TA's Action-Adventure Game of 2011 Batman: Arkham City (Xbox 360) for remaining on the chart since October.

Top Retail Games Started

Warp has made a great debut for a quirky puzzle title. Despite that debut, Gotham City Impostors may be up to 4k gamers by the time you read this, so Warp only gets an "A" for effort.

Shank 2 debuted at the price point (800 MSP) many believe the original Shank should have been priced at when it debuted. Despite this price drop, Shank 2 has failed to catch lightning in a bottle for a second time.

Double Fine Happy Action Theater is securing that final spot. I've got to respect such a quirky mini-game collection getting close to cracking 1k.

Top Arcade Games Started

Chickens Can't Fly (WP) made a decent enough debut, but at this point almost every game is starting with an audience of 200 gamers, then doubling to 400 for the second week. A clear pattern for WP titles is forming as we approach the six month mark of multi-region availability.

Top Windows Phone Games Started

Games Completed
6,549 TrueAchievements gamers completed a total of 9,084 games between them (1,062 different games).

L.A. Noire is back! Clearly some gamers picked up the DLC during the recent sale and just polished it off. Mass Effect 2 is similar in that people put it off for awhile, but have been pushed to finish it because I've heard rumors of a third title in that franchise coming soon. I can neither confirm, nor deny, that a third "Get into the Space Nazi's pants" simulator will be released this year.

Speaking of completing long RPGs, Final Fantasy XIII-2 now has a completion rate of 14.62%. I know I am not alone in being amazed at how high that rate is for a JRPG this quickly.

Top Retail Games Completed

I can not muster feelings over this chart. Again the overall numbers are very low and TA's 2011 XBLA Game of the Year, Bastion, is numero uno.

Top Arcade Games Completed

Collapse! (WP) is even closer to that elusive 100% completion!

The appearance of Doodle God (WP) seems a little random, was that a DotW and I just missed it?

Top Windows Phone Games Completed

Achievements Won
57,263 TrueAchievements gamers won a total of 624,680 achievements online between them (42,340 different achievements).

Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning sweeps the chart despite how close the race was with UFC Undisputed 3. I blame this on the wide range of achievements that can unlocked in UFC Undisputed 3 in almost any order. As a Western-RPG, Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning is much more rigid in achievement order.

Top Retail Achievements Won

Pinball FX2 (Xbox 360), my favorite XBLA game of all time, snags two spots on this chart thanks to the "Epic Quest" DLC table. I have yet to take that one for a spin myself as I'm still busy messing around with the "Vengeance and Virtue" DLC pack.

Top Arcade Achievements Won

BulletAsylum (WP) may have been ranked under Gravity Guy (WP) this week, but this chart clearly shows which game has the easier achievements.

Sorry for keeping it brief, but we're coming up on College mid-terms and I'd much rather figure out how to use MARC over writing an article.

Okay that's a lie, but I need to keep motivated or cataloging homework puts me right to sleep.
