Can you believe we're already almost done with February? That seemed like a very short month. Thankfully, with new releases hitting store shelves every week, we have some rather interesting numbers to dissect now, especially regarding retail games. This report is for the period February 20th to February 26th 2012
20,801 TrueAchievements gamers started a total of 31,020 games between them (1,511 different games).
I enjoyed the original Syndicate
for the PC way, WAY back in the day. This revival is getting good reviews, good word of mouth, but yet I can't shake the feeling that it's facing an uphill battle for interest. On the other end of that particular spectrum, we have Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning
that has really captured the interest of the gaming community.
Despite the inherent flaws in any open-world RPG, people seem to really enjoy Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning
, which bodes well for the IP. The original IP that is suffering right now is Asura's Wrath
from Capcom. Woof. Where to begin with this one?
I'll just say that it seems to have a very specific audience. Personally, I will be picking it up once the price drops as the sort of insanity I've seen in the trailers appeals to someone like me. I've watched Excel Saga
, I enjoy a certain type of anime.
Both UFC Undisputed 3
and SoulCalibur V
are tracking just fine given the audience for those franchises. I worry for Soul Calibur V
just a little as I saw it for $30 at my local Gamestop yesterday. Top Retail Games Started
That number for Alan Wake's American Nightmare
? As I type this on Thursday, March 1st, that number is roughly 1k less then where the game stands now. Who knew that there would be such demand for another Alan Wake
game? Oh right, EVERYONE KNEW. Kinect Fun Labs: Junk Fu
is the latest Kinect app and of course, it's popular among those wishing to pad their completion count. Shank 2
was popular enough to just barely break 1k total gamers this past week. The disparity between Shank
and Shank 2
is unbelievable. Top Arcade Games Started
, you and your mobile phone versions of established franchises. I bring them up in a dismissive, patronizing tone as http://www.trueachievements.com/Splinter-Cell-5-xbox-360.htm
is both developed and published by Gameloft, which means something, but I'm sure there's others that can speak to the quality of mini Sam Fisher's adventure.
In other news, Orbital (WP)
continues to dominate the chart just as it did my friend feed. I don't even know sort of game this is, since "Puzzle" can mean so many things. Top Windows Phone Games StartedGames Completed
7,395 TrueAchievements gamers completed a total of 10,783 games between them (1,144 different games).Saints Row: The Third
gets a special mention as again, it benefits from a DLC pack. This time around, it's the "Gangstas In SPPPPPAAAAACCCCCEEEEE!!!!!!" DLC contributing to over 1k completions. But what makes this really interesting?
All of those people have now LOST those completions again thanks to the achievements for "The Trouble With Clones" DLC pack appearing on the site now. As I am not a completionist, this amuses me greatly. Top Retail Games CompletedBastion
is cut! The RPG is cut! Kinect Fun Labs: Junk-Fu
continues the grand tradition of padding completion rates alongside four more Kinect apps. Harms Way
also continues the tradition of padding completion rates, which was sadly shattered by http://www.trueachievements.com/Doritos-Crash-Course-xb....htm
I only bring up Doritos Crash Course
as that appeared in these stats a lot during December and I attempted to finish it the other day. I failed. Horribly. Top Arcade Games Completed
I'm holding back from the first comment that came to my dirty, dirty mind. Someone in the comments will make it for me. Top Windows Phone Games CompletedAchievements Won
59,017 TrueAchievements gamers won a total of 669,452 achievements online between them (43,338 different achievements).
Amazingly, Saints Row: The Third
sweeps with EVERY SINGLE DLC achievement. Why is that amazing? Well, it's not on the same level as a Call of Duty
or Gears of War
title, or is it? Top Retail Achievements WonAlan Wake's American Nightmare
would have swept, giving us three out of three on sweeps this week, but the latest Kinect app stopped that dream. Thanks Junk-Fu
, and thanks for being free since no one will spend money on you in the future. Top Arcade Achievements WonOrbital
gave us our second sweep, but it's a Windows Phone game and is rather enjoyable according to my friend feed, so that's no surprise at all. Top Windows Phone Achievements WonTotal TrueAchievements won by Genre
Action-Adventure blew past RPGs thanks to Saints Row: The Third
. I don't think that will last much longer; in fact, while RPG may lag behind next week as well, that will not be the case in two weeks.
Is anyone still reading? In that case, the password is "Moonbeam." Go tell that to the guy down at the corner, he'll know what it means.
