Modern Warfare 3 DLC Incoming for Non-Elites

By Mark Delaney, 4 years ago
While the wealthy 1% of Call of Duty ELITE subscribers have enjoyed new DLC every few weeks since the game's release, the rest of us -- the 99% -- have struggled to get by with the same old maps for months. It isn't fair and it's time we take a stand! Stand beside me as we march to the steps of Infinity Ward and demand we're heard! Bring your tents, your non-perishables, and bring your iPods, we're not leaving until --

What?...Oh. Oh I guess the first map pack for non-ELITE members is actually due out soon. On March 20th, the first add-on will be available on the dashboard for anyone who wants it, featuring the ELITE maps Liberation, Piazza, Overwatch and the upcoming Black Box map, as well. This map pack will be the first of four for non-ELITE subscribers, while ELITE will continue to release them more frequently but in smaller quantities all the way through the next few months.

The next ELITE drop comes on March 13th and will include Black Box as well as two Spec Ops missions, Black Ice and Negotiator.

In “Black Box,” players will battle beside a downed Air Force One amidst multi-level homes overlooking the luxurious Southern California neighbourhood.
Black Box overview

Infiltrating a diamond mine aboard a snowmobile in the Special Ops mission “Black Ice,” your primary objective is to plant high-grade explosives in order to shut the mine down forever.

In “Negotiator,” you head to India for high-stakes hostage extraction in which you’ll breach-and-clear rooms and navigate surface streets to ensure the safety of your VIPs.No pricing was detailed, but anything other than 1200 MSP would be surprising.

One of my issues with the "elite" is that it gives the subscribers an unfair advantage. By the time others buy it, Elite has been playing on and perfecting them for awhile.

I guess that is one way to increase demand...

@ Gam3r xUSAx: That's really the whole point to Elite: Getting early access and maybe saving a bit of money(if a non-subscriber buys all the content anyway).

OT: I will think about buying these maps if they work for Survival mode as that's about the only mode i play in MW3 nowadays.

So, 4 Maps and 2 new Spec Ops missions?

...200 MSP a map? Sounds alright, i mean.

Your opening paragraph made me actually laugh out loud - I'll join in with my megaphone and tent wink

As far as the maps go, I'm glad to see that they're releasing the Elite content sooner rather than later. I haven't played too much of this game's multiplayer yet (slogging through my backlog at the moment), but a lot of my friends have been chomping at the bit to get new maps/missions.

It's not unfair to give an advantage to someone who pays for the service. However... I have loved CoD for 2 years now when i first was introduced to it, but the Elite service has kind of upset me. Although i payed for all the map packs for MW2 and Black Ops, i am just not excited over map packs anymore. It might be because all my friends have moved on from buying the map packs, and i haven't even played the new maps much because i play with those without it. It's a real inconvenience and now i finally feel like i wasted my money.... thankfully, there is Mass Effect 3 in 5 days! clap dance headspin

In my personal experience, I wasn't a fan of these newer maps. Mostly because they are not suited for my gametype of choice (TDM) but they would be alot more fun on an objective based game mode, especially infected

Nice write! Hahaha I dont think I'll be getting these, dont want to pay 1200, and dlc for cod is pointless since it has no resale value and you are on a new cod within a year.

If theres achievements for the spec ops I'll be picking this up when it appears on deal of the weak. Other than that I won't be getting them, already sold MW3 for more than I originally paid.

I'm glad if these continue to lack achievements so I can happily ignore them. This allows the diehards to play the game without jackass boosters like myself corrupting their MP gameplay.

I love the visuals of the Call Of Duty engine since COD 4. Crisp and smooth framerate.

I never buy these packs as it's a complete waste of cash, but the downed AF1 level looks great.
Job & A Social Life, achievements most gamers refuse to earn...therefore, their ratios are high.

The sad thing is that the overpriced 1200 MSP map pack will be bought faster than anything else on Xbox Live which will be used to justify other overpriced crap on the service.

Oooh you are so cool, hip and edgy. Let's make fun of serious economic issues to look cool. Douche.

On Topic: If this were a TreyArch CoD, I would be all over it. However, Infinity Ward has shitty side games and makes shitty maps. $15 for a few shit maps and no achievements. IW can go fuck themselves, even though ultimately, the distribution and pricing of DLC actually has nothing to do with IW. Activision has reign over such decisions and has made it abundantly clear that all they care about anymore is the money.
