Zone of the Enders HD Arriving This Autumn

The Zone of the Enders HD Collection was announced as arriving on the Xbox 360 at E3 2011, but since then things have been quiet. The collection will include HD remasters of Hideo Kojima's Playstation 2 releases Zone of the Enders and Zone of the Enders: The 2nd Runner, otherwise known as Anubis: Zone of the Enders in Japan.



The Zone of the Enders games are set in the 22nd century, where humans have managed to colonize Mars and have set up space colonies that are in orbit around Jupiter. However, the remaining inhabitants of Earth start to look down on the colonists and refer to them as "Enders". The colonists fall victim to harsh laws and taxes imposed by their former cohabitants on Earth. Rebel groups form on Mars to oppose the oppression. Their main weapon is a mech called the Orbital Frame and these play a major part in the plot of the games.

Zone of the Enders sees players take on the role of a young boy called Leo Stenbuck. He is a colonist from Jupiter who accidentally ends up piloting the Orbital Frame Jehuty. Two years later, Zone of the Enders: The 2nd Runner sees players take on the role of Dingo Egret, a pilot who finds Jehuty on the Moon of Callisto. He travels to the superweapon Aumaan to attempt to defeat his fiercest rival, Colonel Nohman of the BAHRAM army, who is the pilot of Jehuty's sister Orbital Frame, Anubis.

Zone of the Enders HD Collection is due to be released in Fall / Autumn 2012.
