In my opinion, and the opinion of many others,
Joe Danger: Special Edition was one of the absolute gems of the last year on XBLA. At turns fun and frustrating (but always with that warm fuzzy feeling of a job well done when you succeeded),
Joe Danger challenged you in a way similar to
Trials HD, just with different physics. Now, he returns as more than a daredevil on a bike – he’s a stuntman capable of using many vehicles from skis to mine carts.
One neat thing about the inclusion of multiple vehicles is that each one brings with it different physics. You can’t quite pull a wheelie on skis and you certainly have to deal with floating while using a jet pack. This means many more possibilities for the tracks in
Joe Danger: The Movie, as well as the presence of track-specific tasks. Well, they’re not exactly track-specific, but you’ll encounter similar concepts to those present in
Joe Danger: Special Edition, just with a different aesthetic. For example, one of the levels on display featured Joe as some form of policeman. Instead of having to hit targets, you had to diffuse bombs. The mechanics were the same, but it's nice to see the team do things that are more than a simple re-skinning - the activity actually matches Joe's role in that stunt.
Joe Danger: The Movie also brings with it multiplayer, which was on show in its local mode at the show. The multiplayer functions like the race stages in the first
Joe Danger, only now there are live people there trying to outdo you. It was good fun locally and will certainly translate well to the Xbox LIVE space.
Joe Danger: The Movie still does not have a set release date. You can check out our coverage of the title
