Resident Evil 6 New Screens And Pre-Order Bonuses

Following on from their latest trailer, Capcom have released some more teasing information about their upcoming title Resident Evil 6.

Starting with the story details, Capcom have revealed that there will be three distinct story threads each with their own pair of protagonists for both co-op and solo games, which can be played online or offline. Despite being separate storylines, all three threads will remain interwoven.

The revealed pairings couple Leon Kennedy with US government agent Helena Harper, Chris Redfield with BSAA member Pierce Nivans, and finally Jake Muller and Sherry Birkin.





Precise details of the different storylines have yet to be made known but Capcom have revealed some teasing little bits of information. The game will feature a new threat, the deadly C-virus, which will be unleashed on the unsuspecting and unprepared world, causing previously unknown and deadly transformations. This virus also gives rise to the Chrysalide, which results in a full metamorphosis into a whole host of horrific creatures.




We have also been warned that zombies will be making a return to the series but in a more malevolent form. The new breed of zombies will be able to run and jump at players and even use weapons, making them a more formidable enemy than they were previously. Finally, we know that there will be enemy creatures who originated from a conflict zone in Eastern Europe and are known as J'avo. These creatures are especially dangerous as they have the power to regenerate.




To entice you further, there have also been a number of pre-order bonuses announced for the title in the form of exclusive maps for the "Mercenaries Mode", which makes it's return to the series. Mercenaries mode allows players to select one of the favourite Resident Evil characters and fight off hordes of enemies against the clock.

Pre-ordering from Gamestop will give you "The Catacombs", a map based in dimly lit underground corridors littered with booby-traps.





Pre-orders with Amazon will net you the "High Seas Fortress" map, placing you on the deck of an aircraft carrier and having to fight through the tight claustrophobic corridors of the vessel.





Finally, pre-orders with Best Buy will get you "The Railyard" map, taking you into a underground railyard with danger lurking in and around the trains and platforms.
