The second season of the popular HBO TV series, Game of Thrones, is now in full glorious swing. With the release of Game of Thrones the game fast approaching, Focus Home Interactive has decided that now is the perfect opportunity to provide a few snapshots of the game's battle system in action.

As players explore the continent of Westeros, plenty of opponents will need to be dispatched. Anticipation and the countering of the opponent's moves both play a key part if victory is to be yours. Players will be able to tailor the combat to their preferred play style through a variety of character classes, skill trees and a wide selection of weapons and armour. Here are those promised screenshots:

Game of Thrones is due to be released in North America on May 15th. The release date for other regions is still no more specific than Q2 2012, but a June release is looking likely.

Well I for one am looking forward to it. As much as I love the series I still probably won't buy this, but I'll play it sometime for sure.

is it open world like Skyrim set in Westeros? that'd be cool, it looks really well done to be fair. I still have Arcnia 4, both Divinity's and Skyrim all sat waiting for me to explore (i still have Oblivion half done after 3 years) .... i'm sure i can get GoT and play a little bit and let it sit next to Skyrim for 3 years.

i love exploring worlds ... it's fun <_<

Really hoping this is good! Love the Dragon Age style I've seen them show so far. Only caught a few vids so far though.

Absolutely loved the books and tv series - but this game is definitely not my type of game, shame
