TA Gaming Stats - April 23rd to April 29th 2012

By Mark Delaney, 4 years ago
Consider this my farewell address for TA Stats. Next week, your regularly scheduled programming resumes with Dog of Thunder reclaiming his position as Statman, which is sort of like Batman, except he isn't friends with Morgan Freeman and his chestplate still has nipples. It's been fun filling in and following these statistics closely with you guys, and I'll see you in the comments.

This report is for the period April 23rd to April 29th, 2012.

Games Started
19,042 TrueAchievements gamers started a total of 30,122 games between them (1,541 different games).

Prototype 2, according to everyone I've heard from, is much better than the first game. Hopefully that's true, because a lot of you invested time into this past week. It sold more like lukewarm cakes rather than hotcakes, but it was enough to take the top TA slot for retail games. How are you all liking it?

Top Retail Games Started

Beating out even the top retail game this week was the exciting opening to The Walking Dead on XBLA. I was very, very impressed with this game, and I get the feeling the five episode story arc won't be enough to satisfy my desire for more of this series. The gameplay is unconvential and it's beatable in about 2-3 hours, but extrapolated over the course of the entire season, that's 10-15 hours of gameplay with alternate endings and segments for $25. I'd say that's great value, but we all have our price. I'm very curious to hear what you guys thought of this game. Did you like it enough to continue the season this month?

Top Arcade Games Started

This game appeared on my friend feed a lot recently, but, ummm, what the heck is it? I love word games like Zynga's Words with Friends and PopCap's Bookworm. If it's similar to that, I'd probably enjoy it.

Top Windows Phone Games Started

Games Completed
7,863 TrueAchievements gamers completed a total of 10,898 games between them (1,118 different games).

Proving the rumors of an easy completion are true is this week's list. Everyone I spoke to said Prototype 2 leaks gamerscore and, with about 1/5 of you finishing the list in its first week, it's safe to assume that's accurate. I guess I'll have to get around to this one soon.

Top Retail Games Completed

Now here's a game for those of you looking to add a completed game to your list. All eight of the achievements in TWD are unmissable and are all obtained just by beating the story. No matter which decisions you make, no matter what you do, you will have all eight for 100G by the time the credits roll.

Top Arcade Games Completed

Wordament's unobtainable achievement is now obtainable, but it didn't make this list because of it. Defending champ Doodle God returns to the top, but overall it was a slow week for WP7 completions.

Top Windows Phone Games Completed

Achievements Won
45,842 TrueAchievements gamers won a total of 589,990 achievements online between them (43,176 different achievements).

As is usually the case, the top retail game started swept the board of most achievements earned. Just how easy is the list for Prototype 2, in hours I mean?

Top Retail Achievements Won

Every one of the eight achievements from episode one of Telltale's point-and-click adventure made the list, of course. Along with those comes two of the easiest achievements from Trials Evo, which is still putting up strong numbers a week later. Never before have so many people paid to be frustrated.

Top Arcade Achievements Won

Seriously, what is Wordament? I'm going to Google it (Oops, I mean Bing it) right after this article is complete, but I wanna hear it from you readers. Is it fun? Worth downloading? I've heard it's difficult, but addicting.

Top Windows Phone Achievements Won
Total TrueAchievements won by Genre

Thanks largely to Prototype 2, action-adventure took the top spot this week. That's my favorite genre. Where does yours rank this week?
