Saints Row: The Third Expansion Is Real [UPDATE]

Saints Row: The Third Expansion Is Real [UPDATE]

Enter the Dominatrix this Fall with a standalone expansion

UPDATE: THQ confirmed to multiple media outlets that this will be a stand alone, retail expansion and not DLC.

THQ released an April Fool's joke regarding an upcoming expansion for Saints Row: The Third that was entitled "Enter the Dominatrix". Volition, long time developer of the Saints Row franchise, said this expansion would include superpowers. Everyone laughed, a good time was had by all and life went on for the next few weeks.

As it turns out, that expansion? It's REAL! Here's the story behind the latest piece of absurd content for an absurd game.

For centuries, alien warlord Zinyak has eyed Earth and its precious natural resources and females with a watchful eye. As he prepares an armada for invasion, he has only one worry: the Third Street Saints.Once a simple street gang from Stilwater, the Saints have evolved into a global empire, replete with bombastic TV advertising and tasteful consumer products, the kind of TV advertising and consumer products that would give any alien warlord pause. Clearly, the Saints are the biggest badasses on Earth.

Now, in order to prepare his forces for domination, Zinyak captures the leader of the Saints and imprisons him in an elaborate virtual reality simulation. This simulation program looks and feels like Steelport, but it is the world that has been pulled over your eyes to blind you from the truth. Here, you are a slave. Welcome… to the Dominatrix.
The announced price for this expansion is $29.99 and it is also a boxed, stand-alone retail product, just as Dead Rising 2: Off The Record was a boxed, stand-alone retail product for a discounted price.

Who da thunk it!?! Still need to pick up the game and this DLC sounds just silly enough to make go do it this week.

This better have 1000G. I'm thinking it should go under the same premise as Halo 3: ODST.

Episodes from Liberty City were also $30, and they were WELL worth it. I think we have to wait what that expansion really is to put that price tag in perspective.
If I feel sad, I stop being sad and feel awesome instead.

So instead of one mission, it'll have three?

All joking aside, I can't complain about more Saints Row 3. Although here's hoping that the expansion is actually worth $30 which I do have my doubts.

Before judging the price, I'd wait and see what information comes out around E3.

For all we know, it might be something like Dead Rising 2: Off the Record.

From what I've read, the normal DLCs had about an hour of gameplay for $7 ... so this'll be what, 4 hours long? I really hope this isn't part of SR3's achievement list, I've already avoided getting the DLCs it has because they're massively overpriced.

Edit: whoops, it was (DA:O Awakenings) was $40 at launch, not $30 as I posted above. I must have picked it up on sale or after a price drop as I am sure I didn't pay that for it.

Unless it is like DR: OTR like Dog of Thunder said, then this is ridculous. Bloody hate this idea, especially since the last SR3 dlc was all too short..
