Second MW3 DLC Collection Coming This Month

Adds six new achievements and new game modes

Written by DaveKinetic on 10 May 12 at 05:16

If you have already played Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, you may well have received a PM regarding the new achievements that have been added to the game, but with no news on what they actually related to.

That's because Infinity Ward and Sledgehammer games only released the details on what is to be included earlier today, via a new trailer, exlusive to IGN.

During the course of May, there will actually be two content updates. The first of which will be free to all Xbox 360 users arrives on May 15th, and will include two new multiplayer maps specifically made for the new "Face Off" game mode. The new mode will see all the intensity of traditional Call of Duty multiplayer, but scaled down into much smaller, closer environments to support 1 vs.1 and 2 vs. 2 combat.

Erosion
Make your way through Mediterranean ruins and ancient aqueducts, using leftover Roman masonry for thousand-year-old cover in this new "Face Off" map.

Aground
Head to Scotland's Orkney Islands for the latest "Face Off" map, where treacherous cliff faces, networks of caves and the rusted and ruined remains of a grounded transport ship provide for constant combat.

Two more new maps will follow on May 22nd as part of the Collection 2 DLC. "Gateway", set in a beach side mansion in Brazil and "Lookout" which is set in an observation post in "Afghanistan".

In addition to the two new maps above, the pack will also include three multiplayer maps, two of which were already released to Call of Duty: Elite subscribers - "Sanctuary" and "Foundation" - along with one new map titled "Oasis" which is set on a beach resort in the United Arab Emirates.
It's actually in or near one of the levels from single player - the one that takes place in UAE. You can see part of that level in the background in this level. It's all new geo but it's in the same areaAs if that wasn't enough, the pack will also include two new Spec Ops missions (this is where it gets interesting for achievement hunters), "Iron Clad" and "Killswitch".

Iron Clad
With one player helming a tank and the other escorting it on foot, you’ll clear beaches and take cover in plane wreckage as you escape Hamburg from behind enemy lines in this all-new Special Ops Mission.
Iron Clad

Killswitch
Armed with an Electromagnetic Pulse, your sniper team must neutralize a Russian carrier in this Special Ops Mission where only a bird’s eye view can keep your team in command as you breach the ship from underwater.
Killswitch

No price has yet been announced for the "Collection 2" DLC at the moment, but you can expect it to be 1200 MSP, the same as Collection 1.

As I stated on twitter, I'm lubed up and ready for activision to ask for 1200 MSP for a bunch of crappy maps again. Wish I'd never bought this overpriced trash. I never bloody learn. Not buying any CoDs from this point on though. If they can't price maps like everyone else (800MSP), then they won't get my money.

I hate being a completionist, sometimes. >.>

Edit: And whilst we're on the subject. 2 to 1 says 1200 MSP will only get us 150 GS to make MW3 go to 1310GS, which means they'll be asking for another £10/1200MSP further down the line for more overpriced maps. Normally, I call this Blops Syndrome, more commonly known as BS.

Since Gears of war 3 has 2000G now you can bet MW3 getting DLC until there at 2000G

every other map pack is only 3-4 maps. this is 5(!) maps AND two Spec Ops missions. im still one to prefer everything be sold one at a time so people can pick and choose what they want, so spec ops fans can buy those specifically, but still, 15 bucks is a GREAT deal for what you are getting, assuming youre going to play all of it. people who complain about this price point are retarded, or simply dont actually realize what theyre getting.
not to mention the fact that people who subscribe to ELITE Premium get all of it at no additional cost, and in the long run will be saving money.

im getting reamed because i paid 50 bucks extra to extend my play time in a game that i enjoy by over 100 hours? between the maps and specifically the spec ops missions, im getting TONS more play time out of this then i would have without the DLC. i COULD just buy another game with that 50 bucks, and play it for maybe 15 hours, but according to people like you thats a good deal, right?

no reason they cant release all 5 maps for 800 msp like every other developer does (except EA... no shocker there). so again, justify how you want its an overcharge plain and simple

because its five maps AND two spec ops missions. old map packs were four maps for 800 points, so now its five maps AND two missions for 1200 points. account for inflation, the immense popularity of the game, the slight loss in possible revenue due to the discount that ELITE subscribers get and you get a more expensive product. its called supply and demand dude. COD map packs costs more for the EXACT same reason that Armani shirts cost more than shirts you get at the GAP. if you like COD, buy em, if you dont, ignore them. your little comments on this site arent going to do anything at all to bring that price back down. they charge that much because they can, and you would too if you ran the company.

those MP maps i played on the last dlc drop were dog shit awful i ended up disabling the dlc in matchmaking because they were so unbearably terrible.

i used to like cod but know i dont know what the fuck developers are doing. they all seem to have their heads up their asses and think of retarded fucking concepts for their games. i liked black ops but know their whole future warfare thing...really? i think MW3 is the end for the COD franchise. i dont know if black ops can do worse than MW3 but it certainly seems like theyre trying
