I imagine Minecraft would have been 1200, not 1600.
If JSR would have been 800, I will imagine it will no doubt be 1200 and I imagine if it would have been 1200, it will also be 1600.
But I don't know, I do think Minecraft is SUPER hyped up and made far too high a price. |

| @Lemon Gummi I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks Minecraft is hyped for the price it is. |

| Pretty decent artwork that got in. Still don't know much about this game, though I agree with above posts about its price point. I don't think I can spend 1600 points for anything less than epic. I spent that much on Crysis and that was well worth it. I dunno about Minecraft being worth that, though. |

There's some pretty awesome tags in there; I loled at the SEGA tag. Shameless self promotion.
Speaking of Minecraft, I thought it was worth it. My friend and I made a glass house on the beach, and there's a spiral staircase down to the mines under our house, and we can just spend hours making it bigger, decorating it, and mining for ingots. I kept asking why this was so much fun, and neither of us had an answer. I just know that we will build so much awesome stuff after mining so much. |

I don't really care about the price of the game. I just know I'll be playing it at some point |

They're charging more for the privilege of earning more meaningless achievement points (sorry all, I love Cheevos as much as the next whore but to increase the price as well for this is ridiculous).
I thought Minecraft was a special case as itll have free updates and DLC.
I also thought that with Jet Set Radio, FEZ and a few other recent games, that 800 was the proven sweet spot. I guess I'm going to be wrong. |

But it is cheaper on XBLA than the PC so I really do not know where all this "hyped" up price talk comes from. I personally don't think Minecraft is worth the 1600 points either but... |

Minecraft was an exception, and it also wasn't the first 1600msp game to release on XBLA. That honor belongs to the original Penny Arcade Adventures, a game that launched numerous years ago. It didn't sell anywhere near as well as they'd hoped, mostly thanks to the high price point. Microsoft knows that there are very few games people will be willing to pay 1600msp for, hype or not.
Their pricing model, just as it's been for the past three or four years straight, will be where basically every game launches at either 800msp or 1200msp. More than 50% of the games released in the past year have launched at 800msp, and then a decent amount have launched at 1200msp. Seeing games with the same price as Minecraft will be exceptionally rare, like even rarer than those awesome 400msp gems we get now and then (World Gone Sour, Nin-2 Jump, etc.) |

I do agree 1600 seems steep and 1200 might be more appropriate, but it has loads of gameplay hours. |

But I don't know, I do think Minecraft is SUPER hyped up and made far too high a price. Proof that most games are going to be 1200MSP? The achievement points were updated because back then, XBLA games were actual arcade games from the past, now we almost have actual games just in XBLA format, so they considered it and made it 400Gs now.
The reason it's $20 is because they knew they could get away with it, also it's just a watered down version of the PC. If they made it $15, people wouldn't buy the PC version because the XBLA one is miles cheaper just losing some features. Few games ever made 1600 (Sam & Max, Puzzle Quest Galatrix) and those always flopped due to the high price, not all companies want to meet that without huge demand. |
