Music Mayhem Week 2 Recap

Music Mayhem Week 2 Recap

Because if there's another way for us to bring you stats, we're of course going to find it

Written by Matrarch on 20 May 12 at 02:12

Music Mayhem Week 2 has come and gone, and just as was the case with Week 1, here's Community and Events Team Manager Chad and Jessie to share some information about the week that was with you.

Chad and Jessie said:Hello fellow TA’ers,
A little over two weeks into the event and we’ve hit a HUGE milestone. On Thursday, May 17th at about 18:00 GMT, we passed 1,000,000 TA score gained by Music Mayhem participants from Music Mayhem achievements. I am still in shock and awe at this milestone, especially considering the SHORT amount of time it took us to get there.

I’ve had TrueAchievement whip up a few fun little stats for us, but before I get to all the fun numbers we’ve got some important updates.

1. After almost three full weeks of sessions being created, we are now starting to have issues matching up people for sessions. We might have 8 people that all want the same achievement at the same time, but none of the 8 are drummers, and thus we don’t have a ‘standard band’. To resolve this, we are going to start adding in gamers that already have the achievements. If you don’t want to help out with achievements you already have, or you only want to help with a few achievements, please remove the checked boxes next to the achievements on the registration page. We want to limit the drop out/no show rates as much as possible.

2. There are more registrants that haven’t been placed in sessions yet then I’d like to see. If you haven’t been placed into a session and you are patiently waiting, PLEASE update your registration page. On the first page of registration, there are check boxes indicating which instruments you own and are willing to play. You need to check these boxes or else we can’t assign you an instrument, and place you in a band. As always, update, update, update, your available times and dates, so we can find you band mates and studio time.

3. For the most part, session have been going great. However, we are having a bit of an issue with no-shows and people ignoring messages/invites to the sessions they signed up for or were placed in. Not cool and very counterproductive to the purpose of a community event. If you have to leave a session for any reason, please use the ‘leave session’ button so someone else, someone who wants to try for the achievements, can participate instead. Please be aware, no-shows will always be an issue, but know we are aware of the problem and we tracking these individuals looking for habitual no-shows. Feel free to PM me with a session link and GT where someone has no-showed so we can correct this ASAP.

Now on to the FUN STATS!!!

So far, we’ve created around 1600 sessions, with right around 1300 sessions over the first 17 days. Out of these 1300 sessions, 1246 successful bands were created (at least one member of the session gained one Music Mayhem achievement). I’ve got to say that this has to be my favorite stat, and huge thanks to TA’ers for plugging in extra instruments and popping into sessions when no-shows have occurred to make these bands happen.

Last week, I noted a couple of achievements that had the largest TA score drop and/or where won the most during the event. This achievement:

Guitar Hero: World Tour Secret Achievement The Secret Achievement achievement in Guitar Hero: World Tour worth 55 pointsContinue playing to unlock this secret achievement.
is still holding on to its spot as the most earned achievement for the event, having been won over 630 times (an increase of 400+ over the last 10 days). The score has lowered by 1.2 TA and its ratio has dropped by 0.08, from a 3.68 to a 3.60, since May 1st. Obviously there are A LOT more TA’ers that need this achievement if that is all the damage 630 TA’ers has done.

For the largest drop by a single achievement, we have a new sheriff in town.
Guitar Hero: World Tour Platinum Rockstars The Platinum Rockstars achievement in Guitar Hero: World Tour worth 336 points100% a song as a band, hard or expert only (4 player band)
and its 4.0 TA score drop, no longer holds the top spot but has been replaced by its similar counter part
Guitar Hero: World Tour Solid Gold Rockstars The Solid Gold Rockstars achievement in Guitar Hero: World Tour worth 163 points100% a song as a band (4 player band)
This achievement has been won a total of 351 times, totaling 56,481 TA, a loss of 4.8 TA score and a lowering of its ratio by 0.16, from a 5.52 to a 5.36.

While not noted in last week’s recap, there were quite a few achievements that had increased in TA score. This week I’m very pleased to say that only TWO achievements still have an increase in TA score since the start of the event;
Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock Millionaire Club The Millionaire Club achievement in Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock worth 105 pointsScore 1,000,000 on any song in a Co-op match
which has been earned 45 times by Music Mayhem participants this month and
Rock Band 2 Secret Achievement The Secret Achievement achievement in Rock Band 2 worth 103 pointsContinue playing to unlock this secret achievement.
which has been earned 5 times by participants this month. Both of these achievements have gained a total of 0.1 TA score but neither has seen any noteworthy change to their ratio.

Looking at the total TA loss for Music Mayhem games over the first 15 days of the event, we see a few nice drops in overall TA score, and a few unexpected overall TA score gains. While I’m sure us Music Mayhem participants can’t take credit for all the damage done, I’d like to think we’ve had the majority of impact to these games.

Guitar Hero: Metallica dropped 11.86 TA, lowering its ratio from a 2.508 to a 2.496 with 20 Music Mayhem participants starting the game during these 15 days

Guitar Hero: World Tour dropped 11.49 TA, lowering its ratio from a 3.329 to a 3.318, with 18 participants starting it

http://www.trueachievements.com/Rock-Revolution-EU-xbox....htm dropped 8.67 TA, lowering the ratio from 2.366 to a 2.357, and only one brave participant stated this one

Guitar Hero 5 dropped 7.23 TA, lowering its ratio from a 2.361 to a 2.354, with 24 new starts from participants

Rock Revolution dropped 7.04 TA, lowering its ratio from a 2.577 to a 2.569, and 13 of us Music Mayhem participants started this one this month.

Now here are some of the stats that baffle me a bit.

Green Day: Rock Band increased by 13.70 TA, upping its overall ratio from a 2.682 to a 2.695, and 19 Music Mayhem participants started this game

http://www.trueachievements.com/KR-AI-Encore-xbox-360.htm increased by 2.52 TA, upping its ratio from 2.150 to a 2.152 ratio, and only 4 participants started this one.

http://www.trueachievements.com/Guitar-Hero-III-xbox-360.htm increased by 2.45 TA, upping its ratio from 4.070 to 4.073, with 9 new starts from MM participants

The Beatles: Rock Band increased by 1.30 TA, upping its ratio from 3.124 to a 3.125 and 19 MM participants started this one

Total TA drop for all music mayhem games is 49.68 TA. We’ve gained more than 23,000 achievements, and 1,000,000 TA points, in ONLY these 111 Music Mayhem achievements, yet the overall impact to these music games have only been 49.68 TA score. NOT GOOD ENOUGH!!! I expect you all to get out there, push buttons on your plastic guitars, bang on those drum pads and howl into your mics, until either your fingers bleed, your arms fall off, and/or your vocal chords seize up from overuse*. With that in mind, I can’t wait to see what the next week of stats end up showing. Until next time…JAM ON!!!

*Disclaimer – TrueAchievements.com and its staff members, do not actually support the bleeding of fingers, falling off of limbs, and straining of vocal chords. Please continue to use proper, safe, and health conscious judgment while playing game, as none of the above mentioned injuries seem ‘fun’ and we’d feel bad if they really occurred.

...debating whether or not to start Guitar Hero: Aerosmith, Band Hero, and/or Green Day: Rock Band. Also, not sure if I should try for "Like a Million Suns" from Beatles: Rock Band during Music Mayhem, as I'm only at Medium guitar and bass, and it would require me to have two or three "ringers" (at expert level). I'll probably do a session on my own, since it's a pretty specific case.

But yeah, the idea of Music Mayhem was awesome! Thanks guys! music
I hope that there is another Viral Month (like the one back in Feb. 2011) again too; perhaps later this year? wink

Don't think I saw one match where the assigned drummer didn't have a sook and leave instantly. Cool idea but had no luck with anything that required the full band.

Band Hero is a pretty quick 1k and GH: Aerosmith isnt really that quick but you can get an easy 700-900 GS out of it in a decent amount of time.

A lot of issues with this event. A lot of no shows because there's no punishment (no feedback etc.) and also people being absolute morons and leaving sessions with reasons along the lines of "already got the achievements" - this isn't the essence of this event. It's not about how the individual can gain but rather how everyone can help each other. When people learn that, this might go a little better.

Just had to drop out of a session for the first time. Forgot to remove my wedding anniversary date from the session calendar :-)

I'm always happy to help usually at 9-10pm onwards if I'm needed for any GH game (got them all )..

The late sessions are killing me though!

I think a feed back option would help. Both with people that are no shows and others that went the extra step to make it happen. Most of these sessions have worked out great and the positive feed back would have been the majority.

I have found that being an alcoholic makes you a crappy community gamer! I have completely slept through alarms for a couple of sessions... my bad if anyone I've failed is reading.

I think feedback would help encourage people to show up more consistently, or at least pull out of the session beforehand if they have no intention of showing up.

The other thing I've been noticing is that some people are unprepared for these sessions i.e. don't know what achievements are trying to be gained, don't know how to unlock the achievements or haven't practised/aren't good enough to gain the achievements. Especially for things like 100% achievements it gets a bit frustrating as some scheduled half hour sessions end up running for up to two hours, and you don't wanna be that douche who leaves and basically voids everyone's chances, but you can tell that someone just isn't really capable of getting the achievement. If everyone just puts in a little bit of time before sessions to make sure they're ready to smash out the achievements it will run a bit more smoothly!

But overall this is an awesome event, I have never had much luck finding people to play these games with but music mayhem has brought me a lot of achievements with a lot of TA attached! Thanks to the organisers :)

I see I'm getting placed in sessions now for achievements I have, and while I don't mind helping out, I do find it annoying that the people that actually need these achievements don't bother to show up. I actually put time aside to help out, and their response is to just not show up.
