Steel Battalion Heavy Armor Demo Out Now

You are the controller and so is the actual controller

Written by Ergo Me Smart on 24 May 12 at 18:07

Ever since it was announced at last year's E3 conference, fans of the Steel Battalion have waited patiently to get their hands on a piece of Steel Battalion: Heavy Armor. Now, nearly a year later, a demo has been released for this long-awaited Kinect/controller hybrid, which can be found here. At the moment, this demo appears to be Gold-exclusive.

This all-new game revives the fan-favorite Steel Battalion series! Microsoft has joined forces with Capcom and From Software to bring you this groundbreaking collaborative project to the Xbox 360. Manhattan, 2082. In a world where computers and almost all modern technology has been lost, the greatest nations of the world continue to battle for hegemony. The American army lands in New York to begin it's first big offensive of a long ground war. Soldiers fire from the trenches as scorched bunkers belch black smoke. As comrades continually fall to the unrelenting crossfire of bullets, the Vertical Tanks make their laborious advance... Experience the battlefield as never before with Kinect! This is what gamers have been waiting for!Steel Battalion: Heavy Armor is set to be released on June 19th, 2012 in North America and three days later on June 22nd in Europe.

That was horrible. The kinect integration is done so badly it does shit you don't want it to. Hi-speed mode is constantly turning itself off, my guy moves towards and away from the viewport like a fucking OAP in a rocking chair and it snaps to every other action in the VT except the one that you want it to do. Give us the old control panel thing. That would work much better than this dross.

I would most definitely check out the demo before buying this. It's not a game for everyone.

I really enjoyed the demo, thought the kinect integration was a great addition.

Obviously, its not for everyone, and the kinect haters will have a field day with tearing it to shreads :)

Kinect integration could be better but hell, I enjoyed the demo despite the frustration.

I think somehow it's part of the gameplay; to panick inside the VT pushing the inadequate switches while reciveing heavy enemy fire.

People was crying about kinect not having hardcore games, well If that's not harcore (c'mon you even have to gather field info by standing out of the VY and using your binoculars to scout and locate threats) I don't know what will.

We kinda have an IRON BRIGADE SIMULATOR here. Awkward gameplay at times but great sense of WWII + MECH simulation IMHO. If you put effort into it and forgive its flaws ( every game has its own) you can complete the mission and probably enjoy it (despite your mech will end like a smoking pile of scrap by then).
