M:TG Duels of the Planeswalkers 2013 Trailer

New decks, new modes, new challenges

Magic: The Gathering - DotP was a hit, Magic: The Gathering - DotP 2012 was the 2011 TA Card and Board Game of the Year. Like clockwork, we have another edition, creatively titled Magic: The Gathering Duels of the Planeswalkers 2013 arriving this summer. So, what will this new edition entail?



Much like last year's edition which added the Archenemy format, M:TG Duels of the Planeswalkers 2013 will also be adding a wild new multiplayer format: Planechase. Based off of this summer's upcoming Planechase expansion, this new multiplayer format is just like a standard game of Magic, except that players, once a round, flip over a large Planechase card which represents a new battleground. These Planechase cards have different effects on the game, such as doubling the number of tokens in play, letting everyone draw a card, all damage is doubled, etc.

We can only hope that this summer, we'll be doing battle with Goat tokens.

So this is becoming a yearly thing, huh? Well, hopefully this one will go on sale at some point. I enjoy the MTG games but not enough to spend full price on them.

I have been playing MTG for a long time and these are a fun escape from the actual game. Also, they have achievements. smile

Dog, that was one of my favorite Planechase cards! I'd love to get a few goats and flip into the all creatures get +2/+2. As dehersh said, I've play MTG for years.. I love adding achievements to the mix!

Maybe get some of the new Planechase cards from Planechase 2012. Some of the new planes look pretty interesting.

Manual tapping of lands should have been in from the start. So many times I have been cut off the colour I need because the auto-tap decided... Nah, you don't need to save mana for that instant, then just get blown out.

Such a great game. Is much cheaper to buy this than buy the physical cards... I should know. But there is still no replacing that new card smell.
