Family Guy: BTTM Details Revealed

Family Guy: BTTM Details Revealed

This is like the time when...

Written by N0T PENNYS B0AT on 31 May 12 at 21:48

We all know Seth McFarlane loves to utilize cut-away moments in Family Guy; so much so, that some folks say it takes away from the story. The upcoming retail title, Family Guy: Back to the Multiverse, revealed some new details recently and these famous cut-aways were mentioned.

For starters, the game will put players into third-person couch co-op (or single player, if you prefer) as the dynamic duo Stewie and Brian. The game won't exactly pick up where the popular multiverse episode left off, but the pair will find themselves back in many different alternate versions of their world, and they'll each have their own specific weapons and abilities. Unfortunately, Activision hasn't yet revealed any of these parallel worlds, but it's probably safe to assume at least some of them will parody video games. As Stewie and Brian, you'll traverse these varied worlds interacting with and defeating many familiar characters in search of Stewie's arch-nemesis, Bertram, who has returned with a vengeance.

The game, unlike the show, will forego cut-aways in favor of a more linear story, but it's still being written by the team behind the series, similar to how Trey Parker and Matt Stone are overseeing the development of South Park: The Stick of Truth. In addition to the co-op, the game will also offer one on one multiplayer modes, all with a "Family Guy twist".

Family Guy: Back to the Multiverse, barring any scraped knees, should arrive sometime this fall. Thanks to the TA'ers who sent us this story.

Good to know the writers are involved.
It's always so disappointing when the story, dialogue etc from games based on tv shows and films are so crappy compared to the source ie. every Simpsons game

I assume a Futurama show must be just around the corner with south Park and now Family Guy games imminent.

I would love to see them make an arcade game though...no idea what type of game I'd want it to be though.

So I'm guessing no online co-op in Family Guy? Luckily I have a friend up the street =P

I like the cutaways personally. Remember that episode where they were stuck in bank vault or something? That was a huge bore, I don't remember a single cutaway.

I know they never will (a game at least...), but if for some stupid reason they did I'd go bonkers and by the $150 Area 51 Edition

I gave up on Family Guy a while back, I might rent the game as the lack of cut-away gags is probably the biggest highlight of the game so far.

@Gamertagwastaken Futurama game? hahahahaha, that really was a terrible show wasn't it....memories of poor humour have come flooding back.

Anyway, I would love to buy this, however, I have had a blockade on all new Activision games released since GH Metallica, oh well, could've been a fun game.

And now, here's Ollie Williams with the Blaccu Weather Report "ITS RAININ SIDEWAYS" (still cannot believe Phil Lemarr does his voice, you know, they guy who voiced Vamp in MGS2 and 4??)

A little bit torn on this, I haven't watched Family Guy since season 3, I enjoyed it for a while, but it all became too repetitive and predictable. That said, I did like the "Road to..." episodes which were all Brian/Stewie focused, Stewie's not as funny as he used to be, but Brian's still awesome.

On the subject of a Futurama game, the first one was just reasonable as a game, but the voices and the story were good enough material to be in an episode, it'd be awesome to see them have another crack at it, although Futurama characters are notorious for using a lot of 2D visual cheats for the characters, which means they don't transfer to 3D very well.

Still, it's my favourite series, so I'll take any new content I can get!

Personally I don't like the show, but if the story parodies video games the way The Simpsons Game does, I'll definitely give it a try.

Not trying to be a douche, but I honestly don't care for either of them and am a fan of the show. Brian has grown on me over the years, but I've despised Stewie since episode one. About an episode a year is a good Stewie episode, otherwise I could do without. Much rather have Peter, Chris, Meg, Joe, Quag, etc.

Definitely still keep my eyes on the game and am looking forward to it though.
