The official site also had the following to say about the story of the game:
In this shocking conclusion to the Lords of Shadow saga, Dracula returns once again, weakened and yearning for release from his immortal bonds. Facing a new and powerful threat, the vampire lord must reacquire his old powers - and only his castle holds the key. However, the famed Belmont clan also seek his ultimate destruction.So, that's Dracula tick, castle tick, shocking tick, powerful tick and ultimate destruction tick. Yup, looks like it ticks all the right boxes for a Castlevania game, and a fitting sequel to 2010's http://www.trueachievements.com/Castlevania-LoS-xbox-360.htm.

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 currently doesn't have a release date set, but as soon as one slinks out of the darkness, we'll let you know.

Certainly brought Castlevania to a new generation in a solid way, so a sequel is fully welcome. However what era will this be in?

Those who haven't played it yet, go buy Lord Of Shadows immediately and do so! Easily one of the best games of the last few years, and it feels truly epic!

Pity the trailer for 2 has to pretty much spoil the big reveal at the end of it though!

I am really looking forward to this. I just hope that not having played the DLC for LoS1 won't have a negative impact on the sequel. I mean, I know that I can use the internet to get whatever info I need, but that seems like cheating.

Hearing this news just made my day. LOS 1 was easily one of my favorite games I've played in recent years. Cannot wait to play this. I concur: if you didn't play the first one, go yourself a favor and pick it up. It is amazing.
