Splinter Cell: Blacklist Revealed

Splinter Cell: Blacklist Revealed

Killing in motion

Written by ChewieOnIce on 04 June 12 at 17:30 , updated on 04 June 12 at 17:30

Ubisoft Montreal has exclusively revealed the latest Sam Fisher-fronted spy shooter, Splinter Cell: Blacklist, at Microsoft's E3 press conference.

We got to see some gameplay footage that showed off our favourite gravelly-voiced spy near the Iraq/Iran border as he tracks down members of an evil group of terrorists known as The Blacklist.

Returning features from Splinter Cell: Conviction include 'mark and execute' and takedowns, as well as some familiar weapons and gadgets. There is a hint that interrogations will also return, but let's just say the one in this demo was...cut short. The game again focuses on a cover-to-cover mechanic that will allow for both stealth and action-focused styles of play. The combat shown was fast and brutal, and killing in motion will allow you to move through the environment, taking out enemies quickly and fluidly.

The game will also feature the option to utilise Kinect-voice commands, such as saying things to distract enemies and also issuing commands to returning character, Grim, back at home base (including launching a missile strike!).

Enough talk though, here's the gameplay demo that was shown at E3, with commentary by Ubisoft Montreal Creative Director Maxime Béland:

Splinter Cell: Blacklist currently has an early 2013 release window.

I really enjoy playing third person stealth-type games, particularly the Hitman, Assassin's Creed and Splinter Cell franchises, so will definitely keep on eye on this!

No Michael Ironside, Dissapointing on that front as it just aint splinter cell without him but overall it was the only thing apart from Halo 4 that actually looked interesting.

A Very disapointing E3 all round apart from these 2

While I'm a little disappointed with ubisoft not using Micheal Ironside as the voice of Sam.The game looks incrediable.I like the improvement on the mark and execute system.Makes it look more dramatic being able to do it while moving. But for the most part microsoft focused too much on apps and barely on games this year.I remember when their press event was about games and not apps that bring little to the table.
It's all the small things, that add up to the truely great things.
