Microsoft Announce SmartGlass

Today at their E3 conference Microsoft announced SmartGlass, a system that will link your Xbox 360 with Windows 8, Windows Phone, as well as iOS and Android devices.

SmartGlass will allow you to watch a film on your tablet and continue watching on your Xbox, with the tablet then giving you details on the film. It could allow you to in theory draw a play in Madden NFL and perform that play within the game. You could also pinch and zoom on a website on your phone so you can zoom in on your TV.

Don Mattrick, president of the Interactive Entertainment Business at Microsoft, had this to say:

Xbox is on a mission to make the entertainment that you love even more amazing. With Xbox SmartGlass, we are lighting up entertainment across your phone, tablet, PC and TV in a completely new way. If you love to play games, watch TV and movies, surf the Web, or listen to music, there has never been a better time to be on Xbox.
Here is a demonstration of SmartGlass at the E3 conference:

SmartGlass is set to release sometime this fall.
