Dead Space 3 E3 Gameplay

Dead Space 3 E3 Gameplay

Isaac has become more co-operative

Written by SgtDigglesworth on 04 June 12 at 21:23

Visceral Games and EA made their much anticipated showing of the new survival-horror game Dead Space 3 during their recently concluded E3 press conference. Isaac Clarke returns, but this time he can have a partner. Featuring online co-op, you can play through the campaign over Xbox LIVE with a friend. The new focus on an action-oriented style of play and a third-person cover system puts the player into somewhat of a brighter world than similar games to this one. This is quite a departure from the dark environments that make the hair stand on your neck that fans of the series are accustomed to.

What are your thoughts regarding the much anticipated addition to the Dead Space universe? Feel free to share your views here or in our community chat. Dead Space 3 will be heading to your console on February 2013.

I am a little worried at the departure from the single player survival/horror style. I hope it doesn't ruin what so far has been an awesome series. Having said that, I am also interested to see how this one plays out as the change could be good.

Hopefully they make it so it can still be enjoyed as a single-player game where the co-op is an added bonus.

I'm more concerned that the Co-op while most likely will be done well is going to kill a lot of the creepiness.

Im not sure how I feel about Co op.... this is by far my favorite series and will play regardless. From what I saw it looking amazing! To me it still has the Dead Space feel, with exceptions, ei... cover system, co op, fighting humans, but from the gameplay it still felt like Dead Space. This is 100 percent a pre order collectors edition midnight release first day pick up for this guy.....

I trust Visceral will do this right. They know what has made Dead Space such a strong & rewarding game. They won't abandon it for set pieces & all out action. I'm sure Dead Space 3 will still have us worrying what's around the next corner.

Cover system, ehh. Not Dead Space. As for Co-op, I'm not happy about it. As other's have said, it almost completely kills the survival horror feel. Everything is much more scary when you're alone.
I have a very bad feeling that the game will shaft players that don't play co-op, either by missing story elements, gameplay, or both.

I'm not gonna lie, that video has me worried about the future of one of my favourite game franchises. A bit too much buddy-buddy/combat rolling in a Dead Space game for my liking.

I also enjoyed the helplessness and self reliance that playing on your own brought in the first game, and, to a slightly lesser extent, in the second. Co-op has the possibility to affect this feeling.

However, I'm going to trust that Visceral know what they are doing.

I always have thought that horror would work in coop but developers have to stop thinking that coop means always being chained together through the campaign. I wanna see someone try to do coop where my actions affect my coop partner with out interacting with that partner except at certain parts of the game. I am excited for this but I hope they try new things with coop for the sake of dead space being scary.

Co-Op is going to ruin this series. This will be to the Dead Space series what RE5 was to Resident Evil series.

Did you know DS3 was almost cancelled because it wasn't enough like Uncharted? How scary is that? Who the hell is running EA? They can't be gamers.

This is a sad, sad day for my favorite genre. Survival Horror is dying.

Feels bad.

Dying? That indicates that it was still somewhat alive before this! FEAR 3 and the new Silent Hill buried Survival Horror in their backyard and covered the grave with cement.

Why do so many games have to go down this coop route nowadays? What's wrong with a good old single-player experience?

The atmosphere and terror of DS and DS2 are what set it apart from other games. This looked like something straight out of Gears 3. I'm not giving up on it before I've even gotten a chance to play it, but it just doesn't look right.

Haven't played 2 yet but the first minute of this video had way too much talking. Bring back survival horror and begone with this coop crap!
