TA Gaming Stats - May 28th to June 3rd

By Dog of Thunder, 4 years ago
E3 has come and gone.

All we have left are some new game announcements, some cool trailers and a complete dearth of new games on the release calendar. Don't believe me? Just look at this lineup and note how empty the days are for July.

Thankfully, we have two weeks in June that will be exciting!

This is not one of them.

This report is for the period May 28th to June 3rd 2012.

Games Started
17,759 TrueAchievements gamers started a total of 27,387 games between them (1,589 different games).

One game was started by over a thousand gamers. One. As the last big release, a good one at that, Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Future Soldier keeps on trucking. Max Payne 3 actually has more overall gamers, but it has been out longer by one whole week.

Shockingly enjoyable Dragon's Dogma rounds out the top of the chart. After that, it's nothing but titles we have seen before over the past few weeks, or months in some cases.

Oh right, almost forgot about DiRT Showdown. Every other DiRT title has blown past the 10k mark like it was nothing. This one seems to be struggling to just clear the first thousand gamers.

SEGA Vintage Collection: Streets of Rage and SEGA Vintage Collection: Golden Axe both performed slightly better than last week's SEGA Vintage releases. Personally, I really want a port of Golden Axe: The Revenge of Death Adder which is my favorite game in the series. I loved using Trix, since he could heal with his magic.

I digress, but that's because I really don't want to talk about Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition. Instead, let's talk about how disappointing the numbers are for Mad Riders. I guess people just aren't interested in an ATV racer for XBLA, even at only $10. When it is on sale though, people will jump all over the easy completion.

Seriously, why is it that only WP games get all the really cool names? MonstaFish (WP) sounds like a SyFy made-for-TV movie.

Games Completed
6,726 TrueAchievements gamers completed a total of 9,614 games between them (1,161 different games).

TrueAchievement's 2011 Action-Adventure Game of the Year, or Batman: Arkham City (Xbox 360) as it is known on other websites you've accidentally clicked this week, benefited from recent DLC. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 and Halo: Reach also charted thanks to DLC.

Regarding DLC, it's very clear that the majority of this community simply does not buy DLC. Look at the numbers for Batman: Arkham City and note the drastic difference between the built in retail achievements and the DLC achievements. We're talking tens of thousands of gamers don't bother with DLC. I feel like there's a lot of meat on this particular bone, so look forward to an article in the next few weeks breaking down DLC numbers within our community.

Harms Way has been out for eighteen months. WHY HAVE YOU NOT FINISHED IT ALREADY!?

I also feel the need to brag and mention that I too have completed all achievements related to Streets of Rage. Sadly, I earned them eighteen years ago and I now feel really, really old. Some of you first started gaming with the PS2, and that makes me want to drink.

Sudoku (WP) has been available for eleven months. WHY HAVE YOU NOT FINISHED THIS YET!? I SEE IT EVERY SINGLE WEEK ON THIS CHART AND I WANT IT TO BURN IN A FIRE!

Top Windows Phone Games Completed

Achievements Won
48,535 TrueAchievements gamers won a total of 585,236 achievements online between them (43,837 different achievements).

A good mix of achievements from recent DLC and a recent release. Ghost Recon multiplayer achievements are now completely off the chart.

If I were Notch, I'd declare every day to be "Pants Optional" Day.

If I were the dude behind MonstaFish I'd declare every day "Look Mom, I actually released a game and no, game development is not wasting my life. I don't care what your friend Sue Ellen says, I'm hanging up now Mom" Day.
