Rockstar Quarantines Max Payne 3 Cheaters

Last weekend, I had the distinct pleasure of watching the classic movie, The Great Escape on demand through my cable provider. The premise is that, during World War II, the Nazis rounded up all of the Allied POWs who were "habitual prison camp escapees" and herded them all into one camp. As you can imagine, Steve McQueen basically gave them the finger, busted out (along with over 40 others), stole a motorcycle, and made the Third Reich chase him all over Deutschland. Don't try that at home, though... few people can beat McQueen in sheer awesome factor.

Rockstar is taking a similar approach with those who are hoping to cheat in the multiplayer of their newest release, Max Payne 3. As announced today, they will be banning all of those caught cheating to their own server where they will be forced to cheat against the cheaters.

Anyone found to have used hacked saves, modded games, or other exploits to gain an unfair advantage in Max Payne 3 Multiplayer, or to circumvent the leaderboards will be quarantined from all other players into a "Cheaters Pool", where they'll only be able to compete in multiplayer matches with other confirmed miscreants. In the event we decide to absolve any of these cheaters for their past transgressions they may re-enter play with the general public, however a second offense will result in their indefinite banishment. In either case, we will be removing invalid leaderboard entries to ensure that the players at the top of the charts have earned their spots fairly.To report anyone suspected of cheating, gamers are asked to send an e-mail to maxpayne3.banhammer@rockstargames.com and include the following:

Platform (PC, PS3 or Xbox 360)
Cheater’s Gamertag / ID
Description of the violation
If possible, please include concrete evidence, such as a video or a screenshot

So let that be a lesson to all of you cheaters out there... no matter what you may think, you will never be as cool as Steve McQueen... and most of the people in The Great Escape ended up getting caught.
