Left 4 Dead 2 Cold Stream DLC Dated

By Mr J Muffin, 4 years ago
Yes, you read that title correctly. Over a year ago, Valve announced the next DLC for Left 4 Dead 2. Titled "Cold Stream", this DLC was to be the first community-made campaign to be released for Xbox 360 players. PC players of the game could regularly download fan-made campaigns and game modes whenever they wanted, but for the Xbox, this was a first. Better yet, this DLC would follow in the footsteps of the previous DLC, "The Sacrifice".

As "The Sacrifice" contained the 'No Mercy' campaign, "Cold Stream" will also include remade versions of all of the previous campaigns from Left 4 Dead. That includes the 'Death Toll' 'Dead Air' and 'Blood Harvest' campaigns, and the DLC campaign 'Crash Course'. Valve has also announced that an update will be going live around the release of the DLC that will enable you to play any game mode from the "Mutations" list whenever you want, provided you have "The Passing" DLC, which is required if you want to play Mutations.

For those of you who don't know, Mutations are Campaign, Versus or Scavenge game modes with custom rules, such as all special infected being Tanks, or the katana sword being the only available weapon, etc. Valve previously had a different Mutation every week, and with this update, popular modes like 'Taaaaaaank!', 'Gib Fest' and 'Four Swordsmen of the Apocalypse' will be playable whenever, without having to wait every week hoping that your choice will be the Mutation. Now, for the moment you've all been waiting for, the release date.

July 24th, 2012. Less than a month from now, fans will be able to pop in Left 4 Dead 2 again, and enjoy some new content. No word on pricing or achievements yet, but the second Microsoft and/or Valve say so, you know we'll be on it.
