Microsoft Flight Alaskan Wilderness DLC Trailer

Microsoft Flight Alaskan Wilderness DLC Trailer

Adds more achievements

Written by punkyliar on 30 June 12 at 11:18

Unlike the Xbox 360 games, DLC for the Games for Windows LIVE games isn't added to Xbox.com until very late into the day. This usually means that it misses the DLC roundup. This week's DLC to fall into this category is the "Alaskan Wilderness Pack" for Microsoft Flight (PC). While I would normally just add this DLC to next week's roundup, the "Alaskan Wilderness Pack" is different. This is because it adds a further six achievements worth a total of 275G and is the first piece of DLC for this game that adds extra achievements on to the original 1000G total.

Continue the Microsoft Flight experience in the Alaskan Wilderness Pack, with over 586,000 square miles of aviation playground to test your piloting skills against the brutal weather and majestic terrain of Alaska. The Cub Crafters Carbon Cub is also included as a Basic Aircraft (no cockpit included), an iconic bush plane capable of getting into and out of the most demanding locations.

As well as the main DLC pack, Microsoft has also added a few free game add-ons too:

"Shared Resources" – FREE
Free download that contains seasonalized, autogenerated scenery objects, generated missions, and 3D art assets used worldwide."Alaska Shared Resources" – FREE
Free download that contains base geographical data for all of Alaska."Cold Climate Wilderness LC" – FREE
Free download that contains land-class textures and annotations that apply to cold climate areas of the world."Gridded Urban LC" – FREE
Free download that contains land-class textures and annotations that apply to gridded, urban, and wet, climate areas of the world."Temperate Climate Wilderness LC" – FREE
Free download that contains land-class textures and annotations that apply to temperate, wilderness, climate areas of the world."Universal LC" – FREE
Free download that contains universal land-class textures and annotations for worldwide coverage. The "Alaskan Wilderness Pack" costs $14.99 / £9.99 and can be downloaded from here.

Too bad after you download all this the game now has to "load content" for like 5 minutes every time you start up the game.

I've only been playing the free content so far and I've been kinda enjoying it. I downloaded the p-51 which would have let me keep my minimum requirement of 50% completion (for the past year or so), but now that they are adding DLC, I'm gonna have to buy someting lol

The addons are part of the dlc compatability with hawaii, not game addons, they do nothing on their own and depend solely on owning both hawaii and alaska. Unless you own both you're wasting your time.

If you want all the achievements to 100% complete this, as of right now it will cost you $14.99 plus $14.99 plus $19.99. Then there will be even more dlc later as well.

Fantastic game, with features starting to trickle through for the hardcore simulation fan too, TrackIR support for example. I've been a bit annoyed about the lack of a cockpit on the majority of planes released so far, but the latest teaser has been for a deluxe plane so they haven't completely abandoned cockpits.
