RE6 Demo Out Now With Dragon's Dogma Code

Videos on display for those of you without access

Written by N0T PENNYS B0AT on 04 July 12 at 04:40 | Credit to Chris1984uk

Way back in January, we detailed how those of you who bought a new copy of Dragon's Dogma would get early access to the highly-anticipated demo of Resident Evil 6. Well, the time to cash in on those download codes is here, as the demo is now ready to be played. Covering three missions across the three separate perspectives in the game, the demo should give players a feel for each of the characters and what their story will be like compared to the others.

If you haven't dived into the plague yet, you can see what you'll be facing in this quartet of videos straight out of the demo.

Let us know what you think to this new approach to the Resident Evil series. You can pick up Resident Evil 6 on October 6th.

You need the disc to download it. All the code gives you is an option in the main menu of DD to download the demo. Similar to how the Modern Warfare 3 dlcs work. Once you have it downloaded though you don't need the game. And the demo will be in your purchase history.

Also 2/3 of the demo is AWESOME! The Leon demo was terrible. nothing but walking for 99% of it... I'm hoping the demo for that campaign isn't doing it justice. Chris and Jake were awesome campaign demos though.

From there, you just play from the dashboard (Like any other demo). Just a heads up, it's about 830MB.

Seeing as how I can still get the pre-order "exclusive" Anarchy Edition of RAGE at any given time, I'm guessing there's still some Dragon's Dogma copies with the demo code inside, and that's if it was only a first run thing. Maybe all new copies will have it forever.

As an older RE fan, I found Leon's to be the most enjoyable as it focused more on the atmosphere and limited ammo/encounters. In addition, it really reminds me of the prototype RE4 video (Including the QTEs).

Chris's feels more like RE5 (Action Heavy, endless ammo and monsters), while it was decent I'll probably be my least favorite of the bunch.

Jake's was like RE4, having a mix of both campaigns. However, I'm really interested in the storyline involving Sherry so I'm looking forward to this most of all.

Overall, it seems like a well rounded package and I actually am considering re-pre-ordering RE6. Of course, if Capcom pulls some stupid shit then I'll end up waiting until the GotY version.

*Sort of Minor Spoilers about Parts of Characters' Stories*
When I first played the demo, I didn't much care for Jake and Sherry's story line, mainly cause I kept dying at the "boss fight." But once I learned the controls a little more (through Leon's story because his was the most laid back) I was able to defeat the huge lug. The only thing that felt unbalanced (and this is just my personal opinion) was the part in Chris' story when he and Piers are ambushed while waiting for Bravo team. I still have yet to beat that section cause there's just too many people. Personally I would like to see that one scaled down a bit but I know it's not gonna happen. Other than that it seems like a great game so far.

My impressions as a Resident Evil fan:

- first the camera, if you aim on a target, half of the screen is filled with your character, not good, move the camera a little more away Capcom

- second graphics: Ugly as hell, the textures have PS2 look, some are so ugly, can´t belive this ist the game engine from RE5, explosions are weak, fire looks strange, characters look good, but only in cutscenes, after a cutscene the game renders back to "normal"

- enemys and animations: sluggish, way´s away from perfect, zombies disapear?!, blod textures are stupid, i give one zombie 4 headshots in a row and nothing happens, rolling and getting into cover is stupid as hell. PLEASE work on the cover system Capcom!!!

- no shadows in the demo

- menue: ways away from beeing perfect, crossbar is not as perfect as the menue in RE4/5

After all i hope for a big step till release, maybe this is an old E3 demo or a beta version. The game is miles away from beeing a good RE. If this is the final game, it will ends for me in a 70% score. Cross fingers folks, i good a bad feeling...and Chris is drinking like a slut? What the hell! Chris was allways a good man/character, i don´t understand this story twist?!?!? I see a RE game for Call of Duty gamers, this happens to Dead Space, Ghost Recon, Mass Effect, Splinter Cell or other games. Well i´m getting old...

well its a demo it's not gonna be perfect as a demo because if it was then they might as well release it now, as for the graphics & such it could use a little work i agree with you on that but things like this always happens take a good look at the ghost recon beta ( it was a piece of shit) & the final product is awesome

Since I can't play the demo, the gameplay videos will have to do. The enemy animations do seem kind of weird, they stutter around in a fashion that almost looks like poorly timed video edits.

The camera also does seem inappropriately close to the character you're playing as well.

Anyone else think that dividing the game up into three or so different story segments will make this less enjoyable? Yeah, Leon's part is a treat for old school Resident Evil fans. Chris's part is for the fans of RE5's style. Jake's part seems to be a mish-mash of both. But I would prefer a 8-10 hour game that sticks to one style as opposed to like 3 hours of each. Less time spent on the individual parts will make them less satisfying, you know?

If you're capable of making a Resident Evil game with dark creepy hallways, scarce ammo and "survival horror"... why not base the whole game around it and expand that concept?
Oh, they love us American boys.

Honestly, I'm with you on this man.

The first thing I saw and thing went bad then, the controls. I know all is placed the same way as RE4 and RE5 but I don't know, I found them too "nervous" for me. When I sprinted, he jumped, slided on everything he found and you can't imagine how I feeled when I pulled the joystick down and pressed A. He jump, land on his back and I could shoot like Rambo will do. I will not talk about it's aiming system because I rage at it, Dragon's Dogma got a better shooting system and it's not a joke. You're too near to your character and take 9\10 of the screen. The only thing I think that improved is that you can shoot while moving but it's not a control matter but more of a design choice.

The second thing, Capcom, who the hell do you think you are for changing every f*&king character HUD. They didn't teach you to make ONE intuitive HUD for all characters. That pissed me really off to search for info like, how many herbs I have left, how many chargers for my guns I have. In my opinion, it's a really bad design choice.

Something really pissed me off, when you play as Leon, why do the game don't let you run all the time or DON'T let you run at all. When you got to the guy who search for his daughter, 5 seconds you can run, 5 seconds you can't. Things like that kills the pacing of the moment and it's just frustrating. I'm sure it's not the only time that the game will do this and it's pretty lame.

Stop saying it's a technical demo, we're at less that 4 months of it's release. I'm sure that peoples who played Dragon's Dogma have seen the same visual issues in RE6.

I'm not too happy to see which direction RE6 is taking. I'll buy it to play in Co-op with my friend and for the story period that seemed good.
