Become a You Don't Know Jack Turncoat Today

Leave the partying behind

Written by punkyliar on 04 July 12 at 11:08

Independence Day may be a day of celebration in America today, but You Don't Know Jack is encouraging gamers to take a small amount of time away from the partying to pop an achievement. For those of you who like date and time stamps on your achievements, today is the day that you can get the Turncoat achievement.

You Don't Know Jack Turncoat The Turncoat achievement in You Don't Know Jack worth 18 pointsPlay on July 4th instead of celebrating America

Players have to play and complete one game in You Don't Know Jack on July 4th for the achievement to pop.

Surely this will turn some people away as they know they can only 100% it once a year.
If at first you don't succeed; Call it version 1.0

you know, this game has some other nice hidden vocal easter eggs in it that can catch you pretty well off guard. I played on fathers day and Donnie bitched me out for 2 minutes about how I must not love my father or maybe my father never loved me which was his case. Then he asked if I wanted instructions on how to play, or just some comfy male companionship since my dad and his dad never gave me any. Its a really great game :)

You can always go offline and change the date to the 4th to get this achievement, so don't let this turn people off of this game.

...just curious, what do they teach in History classes in the UK? I know our history glosses over a lot of things (Pearl Harbor was never mentioned in boot camp Navy history, for example), but do they just teach expansioism and then kind of "yada, yada, yada"... everyone is independent now? Honestly no insult or joke, I hate "edited" history, and this comment made me wonder what "history" is in the textbooks over there.

Don't be so silly as to suggest the last 200 years would've been considered "history" laugh

Yeah, no mention of any wars, nothing exciting like that. Wish I took a class in cooking instead, would've better prepared me for life.
Although at least I know about crop rotation and the Box Tunnel!

Indeed. The first comment may have been slightly naive. We didn't really learn too much about American history throughout my schooling years. I don't think we ever touched on the Revolutionary War or the American Civil War.

Outside of WWII I don't think we did any American history, we had our own history to learn from 1066-1945.

So you guys are saying that in the UK they don't talk about the colonies leaving the Empire at all, and it is considered American history? That is very interesting. Does the same apply to other colonies?

In college I had to take 2 US history classes, world history, a civil war class (that one was an elective), and a required Texas history (most states don't have to take a "state history" class, but then most states weren't their own country and didn't join the USA on their own terms), but throught ALL of them we learned about European countries and their influences on said history.

Anyhow, OT, like DisneyPrez said, the game does have alt scripts for different holidays, and the 4th of July one was very entertaining! Didn't realize there was a Father's Day one...might need to load it up throughout the year to hear all the easter eggs just for kicks.
