UPDATE:

Warner Brothers and NetherRealm have released six screens showing Nightwing and Cyborg in action:

ORIGINAL STORY:

As someone with the stunted emotional development of a twelve year old (seriously, my desk at work is covered in Halo Mega Bloks), I still have a great fondness for super heroes, especially of the DC variety. As such, I was very excited to hear that two new heroes are being added to the roster of Injustice: Gods Among Us.

Announced yesterday at San Diego's Comic-Con, Nightwing and Cyborg will be joining the ranks of NetherRealm's upcoming fighter.

According to Polygon (who had hands-on time with the fighters), Nightwing is primarily a weapons-based fighter who wields a staff. Evidently, he is much more agile than the rest of the roster and has great evasive capabilities. Nightwing can also change his attack set by pressing a special button ("B" on your gamepad). Pressing this splits his staff in two, increasing his speed and jump height, but decreasing his attack range.

While Nightwing may be known to many DC fans, Cyborg is much more of an unknown.

Cyborg is a power-striking, hand-to-hand brawler who compliments his close quarters skills with long-range lasers, fireballs, and missile strikes. Cyborg's special "B button" move allows him to regenerate his health.

Be sure to stay locked in to TA for any news and updates!

Injustice: Gods Among Us is due to be released in 2013.

from Wikipedia: "...first appears in a special insert in DC Comics Presents #26 (October 1980). Cyborg is best known as a member of the Teen Titans.[1] However, within the context of the Sept. 2011 "The New 52" relaunch of DC continuity, Cyborg is currently being established as a founding member of the Justice League."

Isn't Flash in this game? I don't care how agile Nightwing is, it really shouldn't compare to the Flash in the long run. Or even Superman, really. But I guess we wouldn't have much of a fighter if we made everyone in the game how they're supposed to be in the comics.

Ciborg appearing in lego batman and now this ? SOLD !

What will be next ? the Spectre, The Demon ? wink

On a side note, gotta love that sentence:

"While Nightwing may be known to many DC fans, Cyborg is much more of an unknown."

Matter or fact I knew about him waaaay before nightwing even existed... and I'm not even a "DC fan" just a guy who loved comics when he was a kid (and shamefuly still read some nowadays). Can't speak for everybody but in my book it should be rather unknown to maybe "batman game fans" but most likely not to "DC fans" roll

Super-who ? you say... laugh

Why is it shameful to read comics as an adult? Comics are hotter now more than ever and aren't seen as "for kids only" anymore much like video games were. I couldn't imagine kids understanding some of the storylines as I often have a hard time following them myself laugh

This does look like a solid development, and the fact that they don't need to please multiple parties (Like with MK Vs DC) means they can focus on giving the fans what they want.

While I'm pretty tired out with fighting games at the moment, I will eventually pick this up down the line.

Agreed. If you watch the special edition DVD for MKvDC you hear a lot of "well, we didn't wanna see Superman do this, so we figured no one should be able to." Keeping one universe as their source should let them have a lot of fun with it, which often pays off well for the consumers.

This is actually the first I've read about this game but I'm definitely psyched to read some more and eventually play it (along with a bazillion other fighters on my shelf). When I first read the title I got it confused with that game that comes with a free tarot deck. Dishonored? You can imagine my initial confusion when I clicked the link and Nightwing popped up. I didn't know at first if I should write the game off entirely or keep reading to see which tarot card he's on (and if he and Batman would get the "Lovers" card, or if that would be reserved for traditional Robin). Glad I decided to keep reading.

Great additions, keep them coming Netherrealm. I'm betting it's already in there, but I wouldn't mind each character having more than one Finisher/Ultra.
