Blasting away in Prismatic Solid

Prismatic Solid is a crazy shoot 'em up that reminds me a lot of Rez.

A forced rail shooter with a simple and stylish graphic spaces consistent of primitive and solid figures. Numerous amount of particles and tremendous amount of projectiles will thrill you. Impressive effects, expression and evolution. Battle across six different stages against various enemies. Each stage has an unique end-of-stage guardian.

Screenshots for this game just do not do it justice. Much like Rez, the games visuals make a simplistic gameplay experience that much more memorable. The game plays much like you expect traditional shoot 'em ups of this nature to, with one notable exception. You have three orbs around your ship that you can reconfigure their pattern as you switch between your different weapons. These orbs can help protect you from enemy fire if you have them placed in the proper protection scheme.

Otherwise, your only objective is to blast everything, well almost everything, in your path. When you are not blasting objects out of your way, you are navigating your ship through floating indestructible panel mazes.

Make your way to the boss at the end of each stage, and you are in for an even greater challenge. In the time I spent with this game, I was only able to see a handful of bosses. I will be the first to admit this game-type is not my strong suit.

Even though I'm a fairly weak shoot 'em up player, I really loved the visuals of this game. Do yourself a favor and check out the trial, and if you enjoyed it as much as I did you can add the game to your collection for only 80 MSP.

If you have an Xbox Live Indie Game that you feel should be featured in an edition of the Indie Games Spotlight, please PM your suggestions to mancide.

A friend of mines has this as a recommendation in his bio if I remember correctly. Glad you guys give Indie games the spotlight, quite underrated since they don't have achievements lots of people shy away from it.

... also because it's 70% garbage. But you guys always pick out the gems!

Incredible indie shmup. I highly recommend this one. The trial does not showcase the game well, only because there are some amazing later levels you will not see.

I wish Microsoft would have just given a single "game complete" achievement for each indie game, so at least we'd have a record of playing and beating these games.
