I made mention on my friend feed how I was sidelined unexpectedly late last week with a nasty flu. Yesterday was mainly spent recovering, getting caught up in everything I had missed and getting set for the upcoming job change (re: promotion) tomorrow. Something had to give, and sadly, it was the stats.
I have placed a call for another Newshound to take over the weekly stats for me, but the interest was rather muted. By "muted" I mean "no one actually stepped up to do it." So you all are stuck with me and Stats being posted as close to Sunday as I can get them.
On the bright side, it's not like anyone was playing anything new this week, with one obvious exception. It is after all, time for the Summer of Arcade!
This report is for the period July 16th to July 22nd 2012.
Games Started19,728 TrueAchievements gamers started a total of 30,577 games between them (1,638 different games).
The retail chart is one big cluster with only 123 gamers separating number 1 from number 10. Recent release
NCAA Football 13 has topped off very quickly as the TA Community on a whole just does not seem interested in paying full price for an EA Sports title. Just an observation, though if you look at the numbers for the
NCAA Football titles, they have been dropping each year, which means that I predict
NCAA football 13 will end up with roughly 6k gamers having started it up by this time next year.
We're coming up soon on
Dead Island celebrating its 1-year anniversary (September 6th to be exact). While someone is bound to debate the "original" part of the term original IP,
Dead Island now has over 46,000 gamers with it on their cards. That is a success.

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater HD kicks off the Summer of Arcade with a bang worthy of DDP. The only game, on any platform we track, that reached four digits this week. Sadly, there is a significant number of you reading this right now that never knew a Tony Hawk game without reverts, spine transfers or the ability to chain grinds on the same rail. If you are one of these young whiper-snappers, don't tell me, I feel old enough as it is dealing with an incoming freshmen class born in 1994-1995.
Quantum Conundrum, a game I enjoyed when writing up the official site review for it (SHAMELESS PLUG~!), is now just over 1,200 total gamers which seems like a good spot for the puzzle-platformer.
Zuma's Revenge!, released the same day, is just above
Quantum Conundrum in terms of overall numbers. Neither puzzle game will ever come remotely close to either
Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition or
The Walking Dead, which both continue to place well week after week.

Gun Bros (WP) and
Contract Killer (WP) are both free. They also are both getting low scores from the community and when I asked for information on
Gun Bros. of the positive variety a few weeks ago, the response was tepid.
Also tepid? The response to
Lode Runner Classic (WP). Can we put this franchise out to pasture now? Crash Bandicoot needs the company.
(Cue the angry posts in 3....2....1....)
Top Windows Phone Games Started
Games Completed7,207 TrueAchievements gamers completed a total of 10,210 games between them (1,159 different games).
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is popular. Film at 11.
No really, I could try and come up with something to talk about here but it's the same group over and over. I don't think it will be disputed at all until late August.

The Walking Dead and
Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition are simply toying with all other arcade titles.
Kinect Fun Labs of various varieties have made up the bulk of the chart all Summer.
Also we do not talk about
THAT GAME anymore here in the Weekly Stats. Every time it's mentioned in the comments, I will kill a puppy. You know which game.

Collapse! (WP) watch 2012!
2,699 are being tracked with the game while only 2,515 have completed it. That's a completion rate of 93.18%. Sure it's on the chart this week, but that's only because 184 of you are lazy.
As for relevant titles,
Mush (WP) has been a steady, consistent presence ever since it was released.
Chickens Can't Fly (WP) does stick out it as it was released way back in February, which might as well have been last year with how fast the gaming world moves these days. What happened to make this game reappear and stay on the chart for a few weeks?
Top Windows Phone Games Completed
Achievements Won48,695 TrueAchievements gamers won a total of 601,203 achievements online between them (47,536 different achievements).
DLC.
That is all.
Top Retail Achievements Won
It's a testament to how difficult some of the
Tony Hawk's Pro Skater HD achievements are that despite being started by over 3,000 gamers, it did not sweep the chart.
Top Arcade Achievements Won
Free achievements people, the community snorts them up like so much heroin.
You do snort heroin right? Or is that crack? The hardest drug I've ever used is a French Coffee. That's not an euphemism, the espresso I received from Chefs de France at Epcot was like ingesting speed.
Top Windows Phone Achievements Won
Total TrueAchievements won by GenreSimulation will go away soon, likely forever. Action-Adventure will soon jump to the top with
Sleeping Dogs and
Darksiders II: Electric Boogaloo. "Soon" in the geologic sense that is.

Join me sometime next week when we take a look at the second Summer of Arcade title,
Wreckateer.
