Xbox LIVE Public Beta Announced And Closed

By DavieMarshall, 4 years ago
Major Nelson announced in a blog post that Microsoft would be conducting their first public beta test for Xbox LIVE. The next dashboard update brings Internet Explorer for Xbox, personalised dashboard recommendations and enhanced category search and discovery features.

Scarcely more than an hour into the sign-ups being available, the flood of interest forced Microsoft to close the doors on the program as the available spots were rapidly filled by an eager community:

The amount of interest in Xbox LIVE’s first public Beta has been incredible. The Xbox LIVE public Beta is now closed. Later this year our entire Xbox LIVE community will be able to experience all of the great features we will be bringing to your Xbox…Stay tuned!
Whilst we're not sure just how many people Microsoft were looking to accept on board, the response is certainly impressive. All participants are required to complete a Non-Disclosure Act (NDA) but I suspect that won't stop details and screenshots trickling forth once the beta update begins to roll out to the lucky Xbox consoles around the world.

Did anyone on TA manage to bag a spot on board in time? Let us know in the comments below if so!
