New Mass Effect 3 DLC Announced [UPDATE]

Story-driven, single player content ahoy!

UPDATE

BioWare has released some screenshots, a more in-depth description, and pricing for the "Leviathan" DLC.

Something lurks in the dark corners of space, something powerful enough to kill a Reaper. Shepard must discover the most closely guarded secret in the galaxy before the Reapers silence it forever. Discover more about the origins of the Reapers as you race across the galaxy to find the Leviathan. Unravel the dark history of the Reaper Race before it is too late. Coming later this summer there is no war, only the harvest.

Taking place during the events of Mass Effect 3, players will be thrust into the darkest corners of space where they will hunt a mysterious being rumored to be powerful enough to destroy a Reaper. As they race against time, they will begin to unravel the secret of the Leviathan. Explore uncharted systems and new areas on the Citadel, interact with brand new characters, unlock the AT-12 Raider shotgun and M-55 Argus Assault Rifle and discover more about the mysterious history of the Reapers.

The "Leviathan" DLC for Mass Effect 3 will cost you 800 MSP.

In addition to "Leviathan", BioWare also announced another bit of DLC in the form of the "Firefight Pack" which will feature "two powerful new weapons and five bonus weapons". The "Firefight Pack" will cost 160 MSP, has an accompanying screenshot, and will be available on August 7th.

ORIGINAL STORY

While some gamers may be split on the multiplayer portion of Mass Effect 3, BioWare certainly has done a great job of supporting it with quite a few DLC packs that they've released for free. As an observant Newshound and unabashed Mass Effect fan, I can say that every one of these stories has a comment along the following lines:

Yawn... wake me up when there's single-player DLC.Well, sleepy gamer, it's time for you to WAKE UP!

As revealed today in EA's Summer Showcase event, Mass Effect 3 will be getting new single-player DLC. The (long-rumored) DLC will be titled "Leviathan" and comes with the following description:

Mass Effect 3: Leviathan is the first story-driven, single player DLC to be made available since Mass Effect 3 Extended Cut. Leviathan expands upon the events of Mass Effect 3 with gripping and emotional storytelling, compelling new characters, powerful weapons and unique upgrades. Players will be able to discover more about the origins of the reapers as they race across the galaxy to unravel the mystery that surrounds the fabled Leviathan. No details on pricing or release date have been made available at this time, but we will definitely keep you informed as more news comes to light.

Hopefully this DLC flops so BioWare will just cancel the rest of the post-launch support for this trash.
Demand a better ending to Mass Effect 3!

Mimic9ll9l said:I could care less honestly.... its not gonna be the same... maybe if it continues after mass effect 3 but i already know the outcome... theres no point...Exactly, single-player DLC so long after release of a trilogy-ending game has no point. I was glad to have the "From Ashes" DLC while i was going through my first playthrough of the game. As much as i like the Mass Effect series, a new SP DLC isn't enough to bring me back to it right now. I'll most likely wait and get it on sale for my future FemShep playthrough later on.

Same. I have resolved this conflict so unless having laviathan on my side at the end and getting a whole new ending its not really worth it. I really don't understand how Bioware can't see that as a issue with DLC for this one. I love the game but I'm not gonna pay for one mission that really isn't gonna do anything more my game.
