The Pot Black tournament is a locked tournament. To unlock the tournament and automatically qualify you must achieve and maintain a Snooker World Ranking of 16th.
Once qualified you will have to win the first round, quarter-final, semi-final and final.
As a guide the defintion of a 'snooker' is where you are unable to hit the cue (white) ball directly onto the object (red or colours) ball without the using the cushions.
BEFORE STARTING TOURNAMENT ALWAYS ENSURE THAT TOURNAMENT LENGTH IS SET TO "SHORT".
An effective way to win these tournaments is to do the following...
1. Start your match and pause it straight away. 2. Select "AUTOSAVE" and switch to "OFF". 3. Play the frame as normal, obviously attempting to score as much as possible. Should you gain a lead of points that would require more than 2 snookers, you will more than likely win the frame as the AI will concede frame. 4. At this point, re-enter PAUSE menu, "AUTOSAVE" and switch to "ON". When frame is won your progress shall save. 5. Once frame is won return to step 2 and repeat as necessary.
Alternatively, should the AI opponent gain a lead of points that would require you to obtain more than 2 snookers, you will more than likely lose the frame. The AI tends to be very effective at getting out of snookers, especially if they would require only 1 cushion to hit the object ball. IF THEY GAIN AN UNOBTAINABLE LEAD THEN HIT GUIDE BUTTON AND EXIT TO DASHBOARD.
Then re-start and try again. You will need to re-start reasonably regularly as the AI has an uncanny ability to pot and gain position from reasonably 'safe'' positions on the table.
Here is a quick guide to ball values... Red - 1 point Yelow - 2 points Green - 3 points Brown - 4 points Blue - 5 points Pink - 6 points Black - 7 points
A quick guide to total of points available with balls left on table... 15 Reds - 147 points 10 Reds - 107 points 5 Reds - 67 points All colours (no reds) - 27 points |
